I do QEW to Peace Bridge/ Buffalo, 20A to Mt Morris, jump on the 390/86 south to 15/99. At Williamsport you can take 180 for a bit and get back on to 15. In the Imperial I prefer to stay away from the steep switch back road over the hills that you will find on the 219 route. Fun in the Swinger or the wagon if it's just me, Tux the Imperial likes to cruise easy with a load..

I just ran the Google map and according to that, it's about a half hour more and 10 miles less than my usual trip down Rt81. Mrs. Big John was just through that area a couple weeks ago and said Rt81 is pretty f'ed up with construction through PA. That's actually kinda of typical for Pennsylvania in the summer, so I'll bet it's a wash timewise for me to go down through Corning.

Cool! I do not want to constrain anyone, but let's hear from @Boydsdodge to see if that is feasible. My guess is we'll be leaving from Niagara Falls sometime between 8 and 9AM, but I'll let him chime in.

See the last bit of the trip that google sends you off on small country roads at Duncannon? That is a steep climb over the hills, I stay on 15 to 81 an easier drive. As I was saying before, in my Swinger they are fun routes but I'll stick with the big roads with Tux.

My place to Corning is about 2 hours and Buffalo to Corning is about 2 hours. So I think a phone call from say Niagara Falls area would make this work.

Just have to figure out a meet up spot.

For the Chrysler at Carlisle show I try to be there when the sun rises. If you are hunting in the swap you gotta walk it three times on Thursday. If you are hanging out it likely won't matter what time you arrive.
I again will be there Thursday morning. Probably my last year for multiple days at this event but we'll see.

Technically John, we used to leave our house at 7AM and meet a few friends along the way to convoy with. We would normally arrive on Thursday afternoon at about 3:00 or 3:30 if the traffic and weather were good; but then we now switched it to still leaving our house at 7AM and meeting friends to convoy with then getting to the showfield on Wednesday afternoon at about 3 o’clock to 3:30, because the last few years we would leave on Thursday it would rain. So long story short is that my stepdad plans to be to the showfield on Wednesday at about 3 o’clock to 3:30. The blue ‘67 Sport Fury convertible is all detailed and almost packed up and ready to go. Hope you all have safe travels!

Indeed. IMHO, Carlisle was not the same when you were out West and skipped the event.

I do not get out of it what I used to. If If management hadn't made reservations and plans I wouldn't go this year but Saturday.

Honestly, I gave a lot of thought about if I was going to go this year or not.

We had intended to bring the 300L last year and brought the '70 300 at the last minute. Actually a wise move with the AC in the '70 given how hot it was. I parked down with the 300 class and some of the reasoning for that came after catching a little flack about having my 300 in the C-body class in previous years. I see that's no longer an issue, but that's another story. I know a few folks in the 300 letter car club, so that was good. What wasn't good was another participant being "inappropriate" with Mrs. Big John when I went up to the bathroom and she was by herself. I came back at the right time before it got out of hand. Between that and the hot weather, we left early.

This year, I'll be back with the C-bodies and IF anyone that doesn't like that they can go pound salt. As I said, it obviously not an issue anymore, but that needs to be said.

This might be my last year, I don't know. As some of you guys know, Mrs. Big John has some ongoing mobility issues that are a lot better since a couple surgeries, but it's still tough for her to stand for any length of time while I look through parts and she's never been a fan of sitting behind the car by herself. We may dust off her scooter for this trip.

I was being a little too defensive and I edited my response.

The way it works with Carlisle judging is participant judging. People walk around and vote for the prettiest car in the row, or their buddies. They don't vote for their own class though. I've even been approached that someone ( a stranger) would vote for me if I voted for their car in another class.

A lot of those guys don't know a Plymouth from a Dodge, just as if I had to vote for one of the new Challenger classes. I wouldn't know one from the other.

Bottom line is you park in class and that's how it's voted.

IMHO, there's a lot of overlap and too many classes. The folks counting votes don't know or maybe don't care, so they just tally them up and if a Ford Falcon happened to be in the A body class and got the most votes, they would win that class.

But I go for the fun and see people (not just from here) I haven't seen in a while. I really don't care about winning or losing.
