Carlisle 2025

I'm pretty sure either the fords or Vettes do a similar thing every year.
I don't know. I think it was more interesting that the CEO of Chrysler is going to be there. I probably should have mentioned that.

I really don't care one way or another about parades. I turn down the local "Old Home Days" parade when they ask as parades all sound like a PITA to be in.

Of course, I don't care about the seeing the CEO hawking new electric cars either and won't walk across the field to see her... Maybe if she was hot, but she isn't. But I do find it interesting that she is going to be there as part of the 100th anniversary of Chrysler.

I concur. I went to Carlisle back in 2020 or 2021 with a friend who works in marketing for a large corporation. Go-getter, successful. He could not believe that Chrysler did not have any reps there. His take was (I am paraphrasing) "those are your best customers, and you don't show up?!"

Good for the CEO to be there.

I'd be more interested to meet and thank the Chrysler Historical Services gal, Danielle (no idea if she'll be there).

You were NOT there in 2020.

Gotcha John. I suppose it is a big deal. Not to me. I've never been a gawker of celebrities and new Chrysler is now dead to me.

Celebrities do nothing for me either, but some people like that stuff.

The two daily drivers in the driveway are Fords, for a lot of reasons. Chrysler would have to really wow me to consider buying something new from them. That's for another discussion though.

But.... There's this side of it too.

Exactly!

Yes, I was. Arrived Thursday, left Friday.

Recognize the cars and the guy in the photo? If not, remember this?

For those that know the area and the roads and current construction - which route is advisable here?

Of course BJ. That thought has been out there for a long long time but it's been the norm for so long no one says it anymore. We expect it.

I really do not recall you showing up the Covid year.

Perhaps this might jog your memory? Perhaps you're forgetting because I left at the end of the Friday and, as a result, missed the Polara 'vert shoot the next day?

This year, I'll be driving down with @Boydsdodge and @73Coupe, so I don't yet know which route I'll use to bring Ming (my 1973 NYB) from Toronto to Carlisle. Here's what I know:

@73Coupe and I will start on Wednesday and take the touristic route, overnighting in Niagara Falls on the 9th.

The next morning, @Boydsdodge will pick up @73Coupe on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, cross the border, and meet up with me on the American side.

From there, my thinking was to take the route through Corning, NY and perhaps meet up with @Big_John in Corning -- but @Boydsdodge should chime in as he's an expert on the Toronto-Carlisle route.

The western route from Bradford down is very rural and two lane roads till I-80. From State College down 322 it's mainly 4 lanes till below Lewistown. Itypically jump off the interstate at the Woodland exit instead of running to Bellefonte. Part of the reason why is because there is an ethanol free gas station in Phillipsburg.

My plan right now is to leave London Ontario between noon and 1 pm on Thursday, arrive at Fort Erie (Peace Bridge) Buffalo around 3:30 pm.

Buffalo to State College - 4 to 5 hours (say 5 hours) so that's 8:30 pm. I-190, US-219 to PA-153 in Brockport (2 hr 41 min / 140 miles) I-80 E 20 min to US-322

Stay over night State college, hit the road by 9 am Friday, get to Carlisle by 11 am Friday (2 hour drive from State College). Maybe 10am or earlier if I can manage that.

Stay overnight in Shippensberg, back to Carlisle Saturday morning, in the evening at some point head back to State College for the over-night and back home on Sunday.

I have hotel in Shippensberg booked, don't have thursday or saturday night booked yet. I was looking at alternate route, would take me through Williamsport, but seems there are way more and better hotel choices in State College.

Is anyone else travelling through Ontario from the west to Buffalo?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but do all (or many) Sheetz gas stations in PA have a red-handle pump with 90 octane zero-ethanol? Pure-gas.org shows where the zero-ethanol stations are, and by the looks of it there isin't much available above 90 or 91 octane. I'd be torn between a 93 - 95 octane 10% ethanol vs 90 octane zero-ethanol.

It's going to be HOT next week in central PA. 98F Monday, 99F Tuesday, 96F Wednesday, then cooling down to 91F Thursday, and 88F Friday.

I live near the crossing of US 30/PA 283 and that is true here (Wawa also has it) but not sure about other areas of PA.

Next year, if I dont decide to do Sick Summer or the Powertour again, I'll bring the whole family. Patiently waiting for my daughter to be born.

I'll have to try to remember to check. I don't typically get fuel at Sheetz.
