I've got a 68 X-CHP Polara and wanted to check for matching numbers. It has two fender tags and the dash vin. Anywhere else I can look? Thanks
Rear quarter panel should be stamped under the rubber seal for the deck lid on the driver side. There will be two numbers, one is the six digit sequence number for the VIN, the other is the mold number used to form the rear quarter sheet metal. This will tell you if the quarter panel matches the VIN on the dash and the build tag. If all three numbers match, pretty good odds the car is legit. Uou should also check the build sheet if it is still in the car as that is further documentation for the VIN. Build sheets were usually in the top half of the rear seat cushion under the springs. Can also be found in other locations.

I stand corrected. The VIN will not be on the body on a 68. The Sales Order number, in this case, 940737 will be.
Look on the trunk rail and the radiator support for a series something like D8D940737
The VIN may be on the back of the block near the oil sending unit and directly across the connection seam on the transmission.
This is the tags on a known verified 68 CHP car. Interesting that it didn't have any codes on it.

I don't think so, this is a "Special Order" "Special Paint", the one posted above is just "Special Order"Its missing its main fender tag on the left, that's why there are "no codes".
