Which one do I have to buy for my '69 Imperial?

There are two in your shop, one number is ending with an "A" and the other with an "BE". Unfortunately no "C" and I've read about different diameters?!

More than likely you should have the large ball joint which would be the BE socket for a C body. I am not aware of a third size.

It's this size:

I used this one. I thank God for having it. Mandatory. No other way.
Around 30 bucks on Amazon and ebay.

Use US MOOG ball joints. The Chinese ones use the smaller socket and are totally inferior.

There are only 2 sizes, large and small. The A Body used both, changed in 73 (with some exceptions)

The 69 Imperial uses the large, so probably the "BE"

Keep in mind these are typicaly 3/4 drive so you may need a 1/2-3/4 adapter, mine lives in this socket.

Sunex 2302 1/2-Inch Female 3/4-Inch Male Impact Socket Adapter

Already in the cart as well!! ;)

Mine lives in which ever was the last one I used as well. You want to know something cool? Did you know that the large one is also the perfect press for a small block ford front crank seal to do it on the car! LOL

Buy a Harbor Freight 3/4 breaker bar. They are cheap and way better than using an adaptor and a measly 1/2" drive ratchet.
Even a Snap-On ratchet could strip on those S.O.B's !
Just a suggestion.......

yup, have a 3/4 slider bar but I use the impact to remove ball joints.

My last ball joints would have burnt out the impact.
Had to go brute force with the 3/4 dr.24" breaker and a 3' pipe extension and braced myself against a wall before I got it to pop. Luckily it while on the car.

keep multiple lengths of "black pipe" in the garage. Slip it over your ratchet and you'll have all the leverage you'll ever need

Mine pressed out fine with a c-clamp for suspension stuff, there were no threads on either the old nor the new ball joint, what's up with that???
