Accelerator pump issue?

Dammit I just want to drive Goldie. First I want to check and see it this appears to be my problem. Starts right up idles fine as soon as I go for a drive and accelerate I have probably 4 seconds of fuel and then it starts to cut out. Sometimes I can keep it going sometimes I have to restart but it starts right up.

Past history/info. Carter AFB was rebuilt, was partially tore down to look for fuel supply issues (nothing really found). I have installed an electric fuel pump (not by choice) it was doing this before the installation and I presumed that it was part of my fuel delivery issues I was having.

Also I have moved the accelerator pump linkage on the carb to all three positions, in case I had the wrong one. I did not.

Additional info. I disconnect the fuel line at the carb, strong fuel supply, so no pump or filter issues.
 
Your pickup in the tank could be restricted. Your fuel filter could be restricted. There's a short rubber feed line at the tank that connects your sending unit to the hard line up to your engine that could be sucking air. If you have a clear fuel filter and it doesn't fill all the way and there's bubbles it's drawing air.
 
Thanks for this input. I don't believe it is the sending unit, it was replaced 3 years ago and it filled 6 ounces in a cup in just a couple of seconds.

I had a problem with vapor lock on a performer series carb some time ago. Similar to a carter afb. I fixed it by running a thicker carb gasket. Check for vacuum leaks. Electric pumps can produce up to 15psi. carbs only need a max of 5 to 6 psi to run. too much fuel pressure can be a problem. You might want to install a fuel pressure regulator if you haven't done so already.

Thanks, I was actually having this problem before I installed the fuel pump. It does have a built in regulator and it is factory set at 7 psi. I can adjust it down. All my hoses are new but I will go back to old pictures and make sure I have everything installed correctly. This did start after I removed the carb, but the second time I took it out. The first drive I ran it about 25 miles with no issues. The second time issues occurred after 4miles. Now I have had them occur immediately ever since.
 
I think I solved my carburetor issue pretty certain it is the accelerator pump. I removed the pump it is the old leather style, it did not get replaced when it was rebuild it is now soaking overnight in some motor oil. I will put it back together tomorrow and then probably end up replacing it with a new one later.

Local Mopar guy rebuilt it. I bought the rebuild kit (this was 3 years ago) I guess it didn't come with a new accelerator pump and he just soaked the old one in oil and had a good seal. I don't remember this at the time, but he mentioned that it may need to be replaced in the future.

I see there is a $11 pump at Summit made buy AED is this as good as any? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aed-5338/applications/carburetor-model/carter-afb

It's my understanding that the carb rebuilt kits come with a new accelerator pump. There considered a wear item. Soaking it will reswell it... but the fuel coming to it will dry it out again. The original ones were a leather. The later ones are a composite rubber that's supposed to be better with ethanol fuels. I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but I'd replace it rather than trying to drive on that one. You don't want to get stranded when your orig dries out again.

I swear anymore they just start everything at $10 and go up from there.
 
Do my eyes deceive me. Belts, wrenches, and hard liquor? An automotive store with a liquor license, I love it.
