Does anyone know for certain if the front sub-frame on a 65 Fury is different between slant six and V-8 (big block)? Same question for a 66-later Fury.
I am considering the purchase of a slant six car but will be upgrading to a big block. I have a motor plate but I am not crazy about using it. Anyway, I think the slant six frame is different but not certain.

I don't think there's a difference and believe the difference is in the mounts.

On a '65 Fury the parts book lists different part numbers for the stub frame and the engine cross member(cross member #2 in the parts book) for V8 and 6-cyl. cars.

If you are asking, will a slant six frame bolt in where a V8 frame was or vice versa, the answer is yes.

Now for the bad news.

The V8 will not bolt into the slant 6 frame mount on the driver's side. I'm not sure if the pass side one is slant only too. You should be able to cut the slant bracket/brackets off and replace it/them with a V8 one. Use a 66 and later one as the 65 is an orphan 1 year only mount that only fits 65 engines. Not impossible to use on a 66 up engine but a PIA and the rubber mount is hard to find.

I'm not sure when they went to spool mounts but if it was by 73, those are what I would upgrade to if I was going to be cutting and welding anyway.

Slant 6 torsion bars are the hot ticket for drag racing, not so much for handling.

I know all about the 65 big block sub frame. I have been dealing with motor mounts, etc. since buying my convertible in 1980. I just wasn't certain about the slant 6 sub frame. I know they bolt in and such. Since you guys are telling me that they are different, I think I will be swapping in a 66-up sub frame (so I won't have to deal with the one off 65 one).
Now the question is...
Besides a 66 sub frame, what other years would work?

I would think any 66-68 Plymouth sub would work for sure, Not sure if later ones would be different where the bumper and rad support attach or not but should be easy enough to tweak if you have basic fab skills.
