Really nice!

I did compare to my St Regis Coupe. Mine has power sunroof and one year only color. Plus I like my road wheels. This car has have lower miles though. I still hate the side molding the length of the car and that has been removed on mine.

How could you compare Pete? Your car is probably the nicest Formal Ive seen. No offense to others , simply a compliment to Petes amazing car

Its got the lean burn. Always hated those tempermental things. I used to unwire em, pop rivet a plate on the air cleaner, and put in a regular electronic ignition system and carb.

Are these rubber edge tips on the front Fenders original accessories, never noticed them before.

The 78s had an amazing grille (waterfall some call it I guess) compared to the other years of this model. Very classy and beautiful. And I like the deep dish wheel covers.
Even though the wiper motor will be a headache!
I'm learning!

You almost expect a pimp to come walking around the corner and drive off in it...

I will look for a boa and appropriate type of hat......I already have my blue tinted sunglasses...they were my Dad's in WWII

Looks like the same car that was at Carlisle For Sale. There's a thread on it here.

I have a like/dislike problem with the 78 grilles. They are very much like the 74 grilles I love... but that thick chrome band at the top works on me. It's a small difference and would not change my love of any of these cars... My least favorite Formal Imperial or New Yorker is still going to be high on my favorites list.

I think Pete's car, with its combination of condition, options and color would steal the show from any others I can think of... which doesn't mean I would trade him for either of mine... well the parts car if he's game.:poke:

Are you talking about the 74 Imp grill being the same?

74 and 75 NYB's didn't have the waterfall grills.

In 75 when they introduced the lower grill inserts in the bumper, was that because 74's were overheating, or simply a design change.
I did read that stamping the front bumper was a problem.
I'm guessing that's why they all have that sag at each end when you look at them head on.

The 74 Imperial grille is a similar pattern to the 78 New Yorker... which does make me love them one day and struggle with the extra chrome at the top the next.... If I had to use a bumper with openings, I believe the 78 would look like it belonged... except that no openings belong there.

74 NY'er grille looked the same as the Newport and not like the Imp waterfall grill. No openings below the bumpers.
