Guys.
What is the best steakhouse in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area these days?
I’ve been to Stockyards years ago and wondering if it’s still considered one of them.
Price is no issue but “Black Tie” type places aren’t our host’s style.

My backyard! Kidding. Most people here go to the Outback Steakhouse, Black Angus or Texas Roadhouse type of places if you don't want to pay for the whole cow. On the west side there's a place called Flemings' but very pricey. My wife and I ate there and the bill topped $200 for just the two of us.

I think we have Fleming’s here in Birmingham too.

Yeah, we have a Flemings here in B’ham. Never been though.

Thanks AZHemi. The Flemings on Pima is close to the brother’s house. Ate at the mexican joint called Jalapenos in the same area last month.

I've been to the Black Angus restaurant several times and always was a good meal and reasonable prices. IIRC it is on Chandler Blvd just east of the 101?

Stockyards is okay, I would recommend the following in this order: Steak 44 (pretty popular, all of my dinners here have been great), Donovans (old time Phoenix, lot of dark wood, etc., still good place to eat), Capital Grill (a chain, but good steak, consistently), then you have the other high end steak houses (Ruth Chris, Flemings, etc.)

When did you move to Alabama?
Birmingham.

We stayed in Tempe a few years ago when we went to the Arizona Nationals and ate at Claim Jumpers. They have one in Phoenix too.

Food was good and very casual. Also very busy.
We sat and ate at the bar and the bartender waited on us hand and foot on top of his other duties. Excellent service.

They have chocolate cake that is the be all and end all. About 7 layers and a slice weighs close to a pound. Took the wife and I 2 days to get thru it. Super rich.

I love the food at Texas Roadhouse !
Great steaks and Ribs.

Just not the nicest restaurants cosmetically.
But as Chris said you don't have to buy the hole cow

Thank's guys.
I have a good selection to work with.
We had such a great time visiting last month i want to get our hosts a gift card to a good steak house.

For Mexican I like Po-Po's on Bell in Glendale. Next door is an Italian joint called Tagliani's, also good.

We love Po Po's. Started eating at the 67th & Indian School location in 1980 when we first moved out here.

Glad my 'Senior' joint (diner) is still reasonable, 'cept parking lot is always full.
