RB engine in a 65 Newport

I have a 65 Newport that came with a 361 B engine. My machine shop purchased a 440 RB Block for me. I plan on building a 440 for the car. I'm wondering if I can put a 440 RB in and will it line up with the existing motor mounts or is there a work around?

The 440 will go in with the same mounts - provided the new block has the mounting boss on the front to fasten the driver's side mount.

'64 was the last model year a 361 was in a Newport. '65 had either a 383 B or 413 RB. '66 was 383 or 440. FWIW. Were Canadian models different in that respect?

Its actually a Windsor, only made in Canada and it came with a 361

You will need to figure out what year your 440 block is. Mounts are available to do pretty much any conversion. Look at the machined pad next to the distributor, it will be stamped with a letter code. For the 440 it starts with the letter B it will go up one alphabet digit for each succeeding year. ie B =440 = 1966, C = 440 = 1967 etc. The mounts can be ordered for the specific year application for the engine going into the specific year car.

There can also be some differences, as to accessory brackets' mounting bosses, in the block castings, too. Make sure that all things bolted to your current motor will bolt to the new/prospective block. No fun discovering these things after you've already got the motor built! Then you have to go chasing brackets for the replacement motor!
