Who makes the best windshield/backlite gaskets for my '65 300? Both windows leak on my car even though the gaskets look ok.Just wondering if anyone has an opinion or experience on this. Also,the local glass shops don't seem to be real excited to replace these for me,they just want to add sealer to whats already there.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks! Rod

If the gasket looks OK (pliable, no cracks), I wouldn't replace it. Use a putty knife to spread it open and clean real good with alcohol on a rag. Get a tube of "flowable silicone RTV". It is made to fix windshield gasket leaks. Has worked for me many times.
Thanks for the info Bill! The trouble is that someone already tried to seal it with some kind of black tar-like stuff that will never dry or set up.This was done many years ago by the original owner & it's still wet & sticky,so to really do this the right way all this goop should be removed & that means removing the glass & seal to clean this mess up.To make matters worse the car has a nice white vinyl top & this tar stuff is smeared on part of the leading edge of it,hopefully it will come of with the proper solvent.Rod

I found that there is no suitable reproduction available for a '65 300. I had to buy an NOS piece when I restored my car. The correct p/n for my application ('vert) is 2571663. I am not sure if your application would use the same part number. The reproduction I got from Steele Rubber wasn't even close to the original.
Well my boys & I removed the windshield & gasket without any damage (!),the gasket is still nice & pliable but it needs to have the old sealer cleaned off of it,along with the edges of the glass.Can someone recommend a good solvent for this? Thanks for all the help! Rod
