68 Polara restore back on

I have 1/2 of a NOS single exhaust system. NOS Muffler and Resonator. Also will have both hangers. Still looking for a NOS Y pipe and intermediate pipe. If I don’t find a them (at a reasonable price) my local exhaust shop can make them. Detail on the muffler and resonator at this link.

I almost have my seats done. There’s a Link a couple of posts up,#354.
Should finish them this weekend.

Windshield and rear window installation next.

Made a trunk divider using my old one as a pattern. I happened to find a larger size waterproof board than what I used for my front seat backs.

Since I couldn’t find the thin black jute insulation for the back of my package tray I used the leftover water proof cardboard/fiber board. It helps support it more and should provide a little sound deadening.

How many times will I have to take my back seat off to remember what wires go to what speaker?
None.
I am getting smarter.

Horns detailed and installed. It only wants to work when I turn the wheel. I did scuff up the copper ring that rides the little wheel on the turn signal assembly, but maybe need to check it again. Power and relay are fine.

Is the little spring on the rubber insulator on the lower column intact?

It worked fine when I take the wire on the horn run and ground it to the steering shaft. I took the horn mechanism out and cleaned it with electrical cleaner and the ran a rag in between the contact plates. It seemed to have a little gunk In between there. Works now.

I am not recalling what you are referring to. The only springs I recall are the ones on the turn signal mechanism with the brass wheel that transfers the circuit to the steering wheel. And not seeing anything in the book that jogs my memory. In the book the telescoping and tilt wheel looks like it might have what you were talking about. It works now after cleaning the contact points. Thanks

Painted my battery tray to match the radiator core support. My battery is too short and squatty for the hold down to work. Battery was purchased in 2007 when I went and picked up the car before I started. It is “brand new” only used to start the car 4-5 times.

Engine bay almost ready to gov waiting on my powesteering return hose clamps and need some vacuum line for my vacuum advance. Parts store tried to convince me that what they had would work. It is too big. Will just order theb 7 rib on line anyway.
If I had a y pipe I could start it soon. I should also pop off the top of my carburetor and soak the leather plunger.

Dreamy sh**, right there.

I don't have a good photo handy, and not gonna go out to the shop tonight.....
So the blizzard is over and I went out and took a photo to show you the spring I was talking about. It's hard to see but it runs through the center of the rubber biscuit and to a screw on each side providing a circuit to ground. Don't pay any attention to the condition of the biscuit...

That’s why I didn’t recall it. My hook up to the steering gear is different.
