I have removed the side moldings ready for strip down, looks like the first time they have been off since it was built. They have a rubberised strip in the middle. Would this originally have been a body color, or would they have been available justcas chrome?

The rubber has been painted, so I would need to replace, but I think they look better just chrome.

Also toying with just leaving them off, but it may leave the side looking bare.

Which model 72 Fury? Fury III and Gran Coupe/Sedans had vinyl colored inserts that was either color keyed to the car or was a compatible color. I'd have to look it up but 5 or 6 colors were available.

Thanks, are these still available to purchase? The ones I have are painted, so not sure what they will look like once I strip off paint. Also they are a serated pattern, and I think a smooth insert would look better.

Gran Coupes had the serated pattern. The color was dyed at the factory. Maybe someone changed yours. You would need to hunt down NOS (new old stock - never used new parts), which is not going to be an easy task.

How are they fastened on to the cars panels?
With these. I am pondering whether to replace with new, but dont know where to start looking.

Does anyone know a supplier for the end clips which bolt in at front and back? Mine are rusted out, so need replacing. Other option would be to attach pins to use same clips as shown (middle section had these doubled up, rather than bolt type and they worked just as good). Looks like they were spot welded at factory on surface, as do not appear to be all the way through the panel.
