What Do You Like/Or Dislike About Carlisle?

Chryslers @ Carlisle (yeah, I know they changed the name) is the BEST Mopar show hands-down. I've been going since 1992, only missed 3 years.
Likes: The old Mopars, the people, swap meet, show cars, kick-*** soft pretzels, car corral, the fairgrounds, the town of Carlisle - just love the whole damn thing!
Dislikes: Some years it's really hot but I deal.

The show is definitely better when you drive out in an old Mopar! The past several years I drive out my Scamp or Road Runner and park on the show field. I don't really concern myself with the judging, heck, there are cars way nicer than mine.
My wife, who's also my best buddy, comes with me, and I have to say, she's not just a lady who endures the show and is miserable, we actually enjoy ourselves and love the little get away. She likes viewing the show as a get together for the cars to see each other every Summer!

Just had this on the other day.

BTW, I was standing next to the guy that won the give away car that year, the A12 Super Bee shown on the shirt. He is a dyed in the wool Ford guy and I'm not sure what he did with the car.

Anyway... I really enjoy the experience. I don't like the heat, but I look at it as I would be hot if I were home too, so I might as well be having fun while I'm hot. Having a cool hotel room to go back to saves the day. I'm not a fan of the new cars... In fact it's starting to look like the Corvettes at Carlisle (been a couple times) where there are "installer" tents to bolt on the latest and greatest exhaust system. I just ignore that stuff as there's enough other stuff to do.

Having lived in Phoenix for 40 years the heat at Carlisle is nothing but the humidity is the killer. I hate to sweat! 95 degrees with low humidity is actually pretty comfortable. That being said the weather doesn't keep me from attending every year, it's the distance and lifes other challenges that get in the way.

Coming from ND I didn’t find either the heat or humidity all that bad lol. Been there 3 times. Was booked to go this year. I’m going to the Iola show instead. It’s not that I don’t enjoy Carlisle but just want to do something different this year. I don’t like they canceled the Hurst show. I enjoyed it a lot. Especially since I have a 300 and it was a nice way to meet fellow Hurst owners to network with for parts etc.

Never lasts long enough... but if it did, I'd be fighting for more vacation time.

Meeting and visiting the FCBO crowd has been the highlight for me, coming up to my 4th visit, my biggest disappointment has been not going sooner.

This will be my 4th trip. Part of the experience is getting pictures of a shitload of fender tags, but, now, it’s about seeing people I otherwise would never get to see. Dave, Bob, you and other folks from FCBO.

There is a group of us stretching from Nova Scotia to San Diego that try to get together at least once.

I get to see folks from the A12 board, the defunct Coronet board, the Charger board and others.

Carlisle is supposed to be about cars, and it is, but it’s also about reconnecting with people you don’t get to see any other time or place.

I just found out I'm supposed to get a parallel promotion at work... By that, I mean an alleged raise, and a wad of Paid Time Off and better benefits.

That had me SUPER stoked, because I started making concrete Carlisle plans... then I saw comments about the heat. I can't do anything over 85 for more than an hour, I would just die.

It's not that bad... It's mostly grass where the cars are parked and there's a breeze. People complain because there's nothing else to complain about. There's always room out of the sun for you under one of our tents. In have one, @polara71 has one, @Ripinator has one and we are always within shouting distance of each other.

My wife has issues with the heat too. She can handle it so I'll bet you can.

I'm so sweet, I may melt.

Actually, the thing that's down the road from Carlisle, in Hershey, is the AACA car museum. That is one of the best ones I've been in, but I never hear anything about anyone including it in their Carlisle trip. In fact, I may go through there on the way home on Sunday. AACA Museum | Antique Automobile & Motor Vehicle History

I've been to the museum several times during Carlisle. Very nice museum to visit. And they rotate cars in and out of the collection from time to time.

I think it should be extended by 5/6 days. I arrive on Tuesday before and head out The following Monday wondering what I might have missed. Just not enough time to have a good visit with some folks.
Don't care much for the burnout silliness, or the Daisy Duke contest, that gets scary sometimes.
Heat.....? Bring it on.....!

I'd love to go, but know it will be a last-minute decision. If it's pouring or sweltering, it's just not happening for me, but last-minute means I'm sleeping in the car, which means I'd be going by myself.
