I've decided to start a restoration thread for my 69 SF. I've procrastinated up to this point because I knew it would be a while before I got started. I've collected most of the parts now so I'm hoping to get it on the road this summer. I'll start with a couple of pics of the car and the stash of parts I have. I'm still missing a few and I'm planning to have my rear bumper re-chromed, my radiator redone by GlenRay and my power break booster rebuilt. The biggest issue is the dutchman panel and finding someone to paint it...I'm not a painter.

Nice!

I wish I was you Rick.

That is going to be one fantastic Fury when you are done.

Very exciting and I hope you keep us all posted on your progress!
Step 1 remove the cover!!!:wideyed::thumbsup:

What does the car actually look like, all I see is a car cover. Good stash of parts there. Best of luck with the resto. Please keep us all updated.

More before pictures coming, my laptop crashed recently so I've got the hard drive with most of my pics in my server and haven't connected my new laptop up to the server yet. Windows sucks.

looks like my writing on the used 69 washer bottle box..lol

Celebrating small victories. I had bubbling under the vinyl at the quarter panel and was very concerned with what I'd find.

Here's the new vinyl top material, perilized white.

Cut way the part of the top over the seem to see what the damage is. It only has scaling and is solid as a rock. The bubbling was far less damaging then I thought it would be. It still has most of the seam filler.

Way to go Rick! It will be a stunning car when done.

I’m watching this one for sure.

Those are gorgeous colors - mine is burnt orange, but I like your colors much more (so your exterior is light gold, the vinyl top is white and the interior is black originally?). Maybe I will convert mine to your body color at least. You have a beautiful car and it will look amazing when done. Keep up the good work. I have quite a bit of NOS stuff stashed for mine too. How many miles on your Sport Fury - it already looks very nice?

shooter65. Finally good to see the car, and not the cover. Great looking Sport Fury. I really, really like the white top with the gold exterior. Can't wait to see the finished product. Definitely going to watch the progress, please keep us updated.

Nice car ! That's a relief on the roof I am sure!

Thanks, yes, mine is Y4 Spanish Gold with the perilized white top and black interior. All original with 58k original miles. I'll post more pics this weekend.

Mine is a variation on Spanish gold I believe as it was repainted sometime in its past long ago. It has a black vinyl top..

Burnt orange is the greatest color that's ever been on a fuselage.. My 5 cents, I don't want to trigger Carsten and have an argument about the definition of orange and brown again:D:D

Sorry Marv, I can't agree with that. The only one worse is Tawny Gold to my senses. But different views are just fine. :)

We agree that we don't agree with this... But I agree with you concerning tawney gold :D
I just love orange.. Anyways I don't want to bring the thread off track
