68 300 interior question

i have a 68 300 2dr hardtop I’m in the “slow” process of restoring can someone tell me what is the missing piece in the picture as it didn’t come with the car and I’m not quit sure what I’m looking for any help would be greatly appreciated

That's where the ashtray setup goes. It's like a drawer with ashtray on the left & right and a storage drawer with slots for coins in the middle + the cigar lighter.

66 won't interchange onto a 68. 67 should fit but won't have the lower dash pad like the 68's.

Make sure to get the mounting brackets that attach to the dash. Also make sure the ball bearings (that allow the drawer to slide back & forth on the bracket) are still there and functioning. It's an interesting set up, so better to have too much than not enough.

let me know; I have an all original 1968 300 my folks bought new in June 1968, and it's in very good shape. I have had it since 1974. Happy to help.

66 won't interchange onto a 68.

I never said that it would fit a 68! I was just showing him what it looks like for a 66!

None of them ever looked like that.
The drawer always dropped a tad to one side and the coin compartment lid never fit square a/o flush.
