Once again, I ask, why do people let cars get in this condition? Sell the thing years before!!!

Well Scott they don't even know what the year it is so don't expect too much.
I know Chris, it just always bugs me when people let cars sit like this. My Father-in-Law did. When I first visited Frances he had 4 - count 'em, 4! - derelict cars sitting around his house. One day he told me he was hurting for cash; I told him he could sell some of his cars for scrap. God forbid!!!

I wouldn't have sold them for scrap either. Parted out, maybe, but "they have parts I need"! Some of them do finally get the love they deserve, or at the very least, get brought in to live out the rest of their life under cover.
You would, and I would have too. But my Father-in-Law knew Jack Squat about cars, but he could have used the money.
Want a '46 Chevy bought new in Hanford, CA in 1946? It was the first new car sold in Hanford after WWII.
It still sits, rotting, behind a barn in Laton, CA, because he wouldn't sell that one either.
As I said, I do not track with this kind of thinking, especially when someone needs the money.
Why do you think it has ATC? I don't see the requisite parts. Wrong heater control valve for one.

People simply look at the title/registration and see the date first sold, often it is the prior year.
Move on, stopped thinking about it years ago.

The "tall" water valve was OEM production on these cars. My '70 had one on it. They were prone to cracking and leaking, so the replacements were smaller and metal . . . and cheaper.

That's what I am looking at.
The Autotemp control valve was much smaller and made of metal. The one in the photo here is the non-atc water valve.
It has been my understanding, perhaps incorrectly, that the smaller metal one was for non-ATC. Why? Because that's what I have on my car and my Buddy had on his 300 Hurst, and neither have ATC. I know because I replaced both of them when they went bad.

You are incorrect. The small metal one was used on ATC only cars to delay operation of the heat valve opening until the coolant temperature increased to a fairly high temperature before engaging the automatic control of the climate system. That is why it has two extra nipples on it that the standard systems did not use. It will work, but it isn't what Chrysler used in production on non-ATC 1 cars. If yours is a Chrysler made one, then what did you do with the two extra nipples on it? If it really is a Chrysler made part, then it probably doesn't modulate well given the size of the diaphrgm and the internals that the larger/taller non-ATC one incorporated to improve manual modulation with the heat control lever.

Only one nipple as you can see in the picture. The one that was on the car when I bought it had only one nipple. Same for the one I swapped in my Buddy's Hurst. I have another, unused, one at home; one nipple.

They then are aftermarket. They must not have a Chrysler part number or logo on them. People use those when the original ones give out from cracking in about 2 years of normal use. They work, but they do not modulate all that well - either on or off with the slide lever pretty much.
