My lens making thread.

Mold has been completed, this one was a lot of work.

Now all you need to do Mike, is to start casting the bezels in brass.
I have thought about this. My problem is the guy that did a beautiful job chroming my originals said he would never do it again. I'm pretty sure when he was almost finished buffing out the chrome plating he bent the crap out of it had to start all over again.

Made another set of lens for Goldie yesterday and installed them today. The taillights are now all my new lenses.

So are you going to put the originals somewhere safe wrapped in many protective layers of bubble wrap? Yours do look great, I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference.

My right outer lens became a bit of a sacrifice, because the PO must have broke the top anchor point and proceeded to drill 3 holes to allow moisture to escape. 2 of the holes you could not see but one was actually visible but not really noticeable.

Now that I repaired the holes as well, the one is noticeable because I used bondo for the repair. As far as the other 3 taillight lenses, especially the NOS on the left side will remain NOS and are safely packed away. :)

So, what's next?

For now I am taking the summer off from making any more molds and enjoy driving Goldie. I am going to make a few more lenses of my existing molds and more clips.

Now if someone has a NOS lens I would jump on the chance to make a mold of it. My plan is to expand my catalog. I would like to experiment more with lens repair too, in order to make a viable lens for reproduction. I have a potential candidate to work on my repair technique.
