Curious on what vehicles interchange for interior & exterior parts with a 71 Polara. I bought my 71 Polara Custom back and it came with a few 72 Polara spares. I also have a Hollander Interchange but it only goes to 1970.

Do certain year Furys interchange on dash parts? Other interior parts? Any glass?

Does a 72 Polara wiper switch work on a 71? Does any glass interchange between 71-72?

Car will need a wiper switch for sure. Any other wiper switches interchange? Car has 3spd motor on it. May also need some lower dash parts like the panel under the steering column.

Thanks

Pat

@71Polara383 likely has what you need, as he has several '71 Polara/Monaco parts cars.

Regardless, you should also look at '70 C-bodies as sources. There is a huge PDF parts manual online for 1970-1971 Mopars (if memory serves, it is available from MyMopar at MyMopar - Mopar Forums & Information - MyMopar Tools/Reference). The PDF file is huge and is not searchable.

You can also ask other owners of 1971 senior Dodges (such as @saforwardlook , @polara71, @Autoengineer, @fc7_plumcrazy, @3C's & a D?, @akiran, etc.).

Look forward to pics of your car -- here is Medina, my '71 Monaco hardtop coupe, the day before the first CATL (@71Polara383 took this very nice pic; the previous owner added the rear stripe, hope you don't mind it too much).

I believe the switches will interchange. I want to say the headlight switch changed in 72 or 73. Otherwise they should be the same.

A 72 dash is redesigned compared to the 71, so the lower column cover is going to be different as well as other things.

Thanks for the great info. Really enjoyed the thread on your car. Will post a couple pics of the car shortly.

Here's a couple pictures of the car. 1971 Polara Custom 4dr. Late build car (706 SPD) from Newark assembly. A07 package on it. I bought it back from my buddy after 7 years. He put 11K miles on it and it sat the past couple years. Just couldn't see it continue to sit outdoors so I worked a deal on it. It'll need some floor and interior work. Obvious paint work as well. Bigger concern is the windshield and back window areas from the long gone vinyl top - they apparently leak now (vs 7 years ago) as they are all caulked up... Car runs and drives really nice.

The windshield and rear window channels seem to be a major problem with the Fuselage era cars. Then its onto the floorboards and trunk floors. There is plenty of sheet metal out there. I have parted out 2 71 4 door cars. I have a lot of spare miscellaneous parts laying around I cant use on my 2drs.

Most of the 4dr sedan glass will interchange from 69-73. Keyword here is sedan. 4dr hardtop cars are different. The only variable I am aware of is some cars had front vent windows. Making the front door glass different then a car without them.

Just don't give up on her. You are probably the cars last chance at living for a long time. When you dig in it may get overwhelming, just keep the big picture in mind and keep pushing forward.

Heres a few pics of a nice 71 Polara Custom Sedan seen at Carlisle this summer for inspiration. It was restored and the guy was very excited to see more Polaras!

It looks like you have a decent starting point. The sheet metal doesn't look too bad. Don't get discouraged and remain patient. These were great running and driving cars, even more fun to drive around today because they are so different than what is now on the road. Your sedan would make a great unmarked police car clone. Just have fun and keep us posted on your progress.

Good luck with yours! Mine has a lot more rust due to sitting under a pine tree on flat tires for 25 years. Make sure you check A-pillars and also down along the firewall. I have a long way to go before mine is on the road. Check out my Facebook group 1970-1971 Dodge Polaras and Monacos and join, as a bunch of us are on there and actually run by myself and 71polara383

Love the Carlisle pics. Very inspirational.

If you have a spare wiper switch, I know I need that just to drive it. I'll have to go through the car to see what it needs (like the panel under the dash/column). Please PM me and we can converse about parts.

@dart1962_440: info about the A07 "Factory A/C Special" package can be found in this thread. My car, unlike yours, lost its rimblow steering wheel at some point -- it now sports the wood-insert mid-level wheel.

Any info you may post about yours' history, including the fender tag, would be great! Like yours, my car is a Newark build, and I am interested in Newark tags (they list more info than other plants AFAICT).

Thanks. I just posted my tag on the A07 thread. Interested in seeing how it compares with your Newark car.
