1978 NYB, 392 MILES,For the sceptics.

^^Ya...but I like the Imperial Hood ornament.

Maybe on an Imperial......

I think the correct ornament looks a lot nicer on a NY'er.

I like the bird... but yours is a tougher find in good condition.

I lucked out and got that NOS ornament for $25 on EBAY.

Marty had a few for less than $100 a piece. I'm sure he still has a few on hand.

I'm just going to put a bird on my 76, Mr. Cranium has already proven how much cooler that is and I have spares.

You do know that you need the Imperial trim piece that the hood ornament sit in and bolts to the header? The ornament mounts are shaped different and doesn't fit in the NY'er trim piece. Plus the angle of the hood ornament won't be straight up and down. It will be leaning inward or outward.

I got an NOS bird about 3 years ago on ebay in the box....60 clams! I also have a complete header panel from a '74 and the ornament, parking light lenses and grill are excellent.... plus the headlight door motor works perfect and I got it free from a demo guy in Eastern Minnesota. another very nice '74 grill and 3 very nice '78 NYB grills. BTW, I have 2 Mint '74-75 das pads Maroon and Tan, complete set of maroon door panels 4 door with courtesy lights (excellent) and a set of blue door panels very good condition. I've got a lot of stuff from demo guys....it's kind of too bad they smash up fairly decent cars! Oh well.

I lucked out and got the entire chrome and trim off a running 78 Ny'er that was in a junkyard in New Mexico about 12 years ago. To include the bumpers and grills. Everything was in NOS condition and I currently have it all on my 78 NYB now. Had everything shipped in a huge crate by tractor/trailer.

My hood ornament is in perfect condition also, when I sold my T & C to DeSoto George in Australia I asked him if I could take the one off the T&C and put in on my NYB. He said no problem as he had a couple and has the ability to repro new ones.

I'm covered... Like Robert, I've had a couple of good finds from cars that went to the derby... @75LandYacht cherry picked the emblems out of my bin find at Carlisle... I've also had a couple of great bulk deals. I'm overstocked on birds and lenses with birds... but its beyond my ability to flip the stuff right now.

Robert, would you happen to still have any contacts in the Derby world? I need STUFF for my 77..

'75LandYacht: Give me a few days to check on old contacts. The last big "score" I made was about 2 1/2 years ago and some of these guys at the time where getting ready for the crusher....Very sad IMO!

Wow, 28 pages about a 78 a NY'er. It gets more attention than a HEMI Cuda.....
