1978 NYB, 392 MILES,For the sceptics.

Slooooooo-wly he's realizing what they said.

Ya know, for 10k you'd be getting the world's most scrutinized NYB in the world...

True dat! It really is a damn nice car, and reality has punched him in the mouth, at last. Honestly, if I had $10K burning a hole in my pocket right now, I'd be tempted. Fix the couple of minor cosmetic wrongs, plus a couple other glaring bits...and...get this...I'd drive it!!!

Down from a high of $50k, that's about $2,667 per mile off asking price since we're now at 407. Wait 'til he drives it another 2 miles and the price will drop another $5k....:icon_fU:

It's a solid car at $10k.

If anyone is interested I suggest jumping on it now.

IDK, I never bothered to go look at it last year, and I don't think I'm in the mood to discuss price/condition with the owner now either...

In the back of my mind, I keep thinking this would be one way to have a lot of fun with a NOS odometer/cluster. :D

Yeah, pick up a roached car, clean it up, stick that NOS cluster in, and say "yup, it has two miles on it!"...but never say "the car has two miles"...the odo does!

Yea I found this one right quick over on FB. I'll pinch the pics for posterity.

I don't think I'm in the mood to discuss price/condition with the owner now either...

:rofl::rofl:

And I don't think he's in the mood either from the FB AD text:
"I wont answer any questions, except when and where can I see it. keep your comments to yourself, and Ill keep mine to myself. NO TRADES,Thank You."

The only added information in this ad is the radio doesn't work, and brake booster is hissing plus tires are square. Still no underbody pics other than the tail end Carlisle pic in this post that looks like my 1st 1977 PK41 with 67,000 miles after I gave it a underbody wash.

If only it were a 4 door.

The more I look at the car the less I believe that it is truly a very low mileage car.

Of course, I could be very wrong and all issues are because of storage.

At least we are now down into realistic numbers for price. With proof of mileage, other than odometer, I could see that car being worth $10k to the right person. I wouldn't be surprised if you see another flipper get involved now. They'll clean it up and try to sell for $25-30K... Of course, it won't sell then either.

Notice he didn't take any snaps of the headliner that will hang down in your face. When I looked at it at Carlisle last year that was really the only thing major wrong with it. I'm sure he has the Speedo cable disconnected also, because I saw him driving it out last year but the mileage never seemed to change...

I am about 100 years late to this thread ...

she's in 'Wooster" huh? If its still around when i am in Boston next month i'll try to take a look at it.

I honestly did not make it through nearly 600 posts here ... so i honestly dont know what we finally made of this car?

my hunch is it is what it purports itself to be .. sorta. lotsa contradictions alongside lotsa confirmations

Price now isn't back-breakin though. almost feels like a bargain at $9-$10k-ish

I'll try to look at it in any event .. but if someone has laid eyes on it/put butt to seat recently, and posted it here, can you point me to your report?

Nope. Look at every Formal Imp and NYB and they all look like that.
The stampings for the bumper were never right due to rushed tooling.

I never knew that.
I always thought that bend was intentional because the battery thermo guard air vent, and carb cold air intake are directly behind that bend in the bumper.

If I had 10k (Jeff, leave it go, it just hypothetical)
I would buy it, pull out my bottle of water from my pocket, make a wet spot on the road in front of his place and proceed to melt those ancient tires down. Then down to the tire store for a set and then drive all the way home (more miles than the car currently shows)
392 miles my ***. Who cares!
I would never pay a premium for a low mile car, because I'm going to change that.

Too easy to unscrew one of the speedo cables from the servo on the driver fender well. I wouldn't put it past Richard to do something like that to keep the mileage low.
