PST or Firm Feel...

P-S-T bump stops failed on me in less than 5 years and they gave me grief about replacing them. they want me to ship them back, and they wont stand behind 'dry rot' if they determine thats the cause. whatever the hell that is.
pictures were not good enough for them. meanwhile i found my 50 year old ones and stuck them back on . . . other than that the rest of their stuff has done OK.

I bought leaf springs and hangar kits from Firm Feel for the Newport. 3 yrs ago, so far so good.....sorry no front suspension experience either way.

I went with Firm Feel, I like the quality and the fact that you can upgrade some parts like tie rods and upper control arms.
 
I bought a complete firm feel front end and rear suspension in 2014 including tubular uca’s, tie rods, idler arm, Bilstein shocks, front sway bar, rear leafs and brackets, all polyurethane bushings etc etc. Quality stuff and after 6000 miles no complaints whatsoever.

Thanks, how are the polyurethane bushings as far as noise and ride quality? I want firmer than stock but not jarring.

The Bilstein shocks will do that . I replaced everything with Moog parts but the Bilsteins and a rear sway bar.... Stiff!

There are other threads here about poly bushings. For a street car, poly will give a tighter performance because poly does not distort. The factory bushings were rubber for a good reason. The rubber absorbs road shock which keeps critical suspension components from excessively flexing and eventually breaking. Rubber also works well to suppress road noise. I would never run poly on upper, lower control arms or strut rods, I did that once and decided to sell the car because it rode like an oxcart and was very prone to squeaking and transmitting lots of road noise You can run poly on the stabilizer with good results for a firmer and flatter feel on corners. You can also increase rear stability by running poly on the bushings at the back of the rear springs.

There have been lots of problems with the replacement rubber bushings made overseas due to the use of inferior rubber compounds and poor quality control. I would try to find quality US sourced replacements.

I have a firm ride with virtually no roll even in fast corners, and yet I wouldn’t call the ride too stiff at all. Still have good suspension on road dips and bumps. I would recommend a light coat of silicon grease on the rear leaf bushings at installation, something I found out later. They still squeak though it seems a little less every year.

I have a OEM rubber PST front end rebuild on my 68 T/C wagon, with a big aftermarket 1.125" or maybe 1.25"? front sway bar with poly bushing from firm feel. I have 15K miles on everything and it is holding up OK, although there is a "clunk" in the front end that showed up about 3 -4 years ago and I have been too busy with life to get in there and find the problem...I suspect it is the the strut rod bushings since it makes the noise mostly under braking.
 
I used the P-S-T kit when I redid the Polaras front end. Went together fine and I haven't had any issues. I'm going to go over it visually after hearing a couple issues this past year, but only out of curiosity. The car drives fine and handling is as it should be. I put KYB's all around and they work fine. I'd like to add a rear sway bar to the car though. I'll be putting another P-S-T kit on my Dart pretty soon.
 
Combination. I did the PST suspension 6 years 12,000 miles still happy. I put feel firm front sway bar and would highly recommend their rear sway bar too. I did it a year later.

I would recommend having your steering box rebuilt too. It was the worst part of my front suspension, and the most expensive but well worth it.

It will all be worth it in the end. I really can't get over how nice these big old boats can handle, with the right equipment. I expected a nice ride.
 
I have yet to use P-S-T or FirmFeel but from what I have seen and read, FirmFeel is the way I would go. In spite of higher prices for FirmFeel.
