I was poking around earlier on the PST.com (Performance Suspension Technology) website and I noticed they have a listing for shocks that supposedly fit a 1969 Imperial.

Here is the link: Bilstein High Performance Shock Set - Front & Rear

Has anyone used or bought these? I checked the Bilstein website directly and they do not have a listing for a 69 Imperial and I find that unusual. I realize they could make them for PST, but I just find something odd about that. I have used Bilstein on other vehicles in the past and I really like them ( they are pricey though). Any input or information would be appreciated!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas everyone!

The Imperial has a different part number in the Mopar parts book for the front shocks that is shown as an Imperial only listing. Do not know if Bilstein ever made a shock for the Imp or not, but I suspect probably not. Might be able to contact PST and ask if they have an old catalogue that shows an Imperial listing.

Monroe 5811 (OE Spectrum): 67-73 Imperial, 65-73 Chryslers
RockAuto listing for '69 Imperial. Several listings for KYBs, too.

The unique Chrysler pn for Imperials might have had a bit stiffer valving to handle the slightly higher weight better, but the aftermarket brands could incorporate that in their broader coverage part number?

IF PST had had Bilstein build them a special batch, for PST's distribution, then that batch would have had to have been a "lifetime supply" in magnitude to make it worth Bilstein's efforts to do it, I suspect. Or perhaps PST might have bought up the last remaining Bilstein C-body shocks? Might need to call PST and inquire?

Just some thoughts,

Thanks Dave! I was thinking about that, but I just wonder if the shocks that PST claim fit an Imperial, really do? Looks like it may be time for that phone call.

I agree and I believe it may be time for a phone conversation.

A word of caution...bilsteins are very difficult to put on the front end of a c body...very little clearance for a large diameter shock. I learned my lesson.

I have the Bilsteins on all four corners and the car handles better than any C I've driven.
The rear sway bar helps but the front doesn't dip. The trade off is a harsher ride .

Thank you for your input. I have also noticed a difference with bilstein shocks, even on an old 1987 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup.
When I installed those the truck did not lean into turns near as bad even without a front sway bar.

I've never tried the Bilstein's, kyb helped, were in fact necessary with bigger t bars. Modern high performance 17" tires also made a huge difference

I put KYB's on front...they've worked out great.

Exactly what I've recently opted for, and glad to have done so. I still have Monroe load levellers in the rear. The extra spring force from the coiled over spring on those shocks DOES help. I'm really impressed with the KYB Gas-A-Justs for the front. 3 years of these barrio streets totally ruined the Monroe OE Spectrums I had.
