Mecum fails for Kissimmee 2020

The Bid Goes On... Unique car, I have no idea if it was originally a 426.

How come all these guys paint the entire engine compartment the same color as the car and in gloss?

Kinda aggravates me, I've seen it a lot on A,E and B bodies.. do it right for crying out loud.

Kenny: I think that is supposed to be the way the engine compartments were painted by the factory. I think the body and engine compartment were both painted at the same time. But I could be wrong. . .

Hey Rip how's it going?

I don't think so but I've been wrong before. Most of my cars have satin black inner fenders, flat or satin body color firewall and rad support's.

It's going good, Kenny. Waiting on my interior to come back from Legendary. I took all my seats, etc. up to them a month ago. Probably get 'rm back on Valentine's Day.

Here's a shot of my engine compartment:

Black in the engine compartment started either with or after the fuselages, slabs and before were body color and gloss - except they'd often spray some blackout behind the grill to make it stand out more.

I personally don't care for cars painted B1 or B2 Blue. That is too light for Blue.

I do like B3, B5 and B7 Blue paint on Mopar's.

That's the way A,B- pre 73 and E bodies are supposed to be. The whole front section of the car not including the K frame is welded to the body so it gets painted with the body.
The non gloss on factory cars is bad paint.

My 73 Ralleye 340 Challenger had everything in the engine compartment painted body color F1 Pale Green, the 340 was painted blue and the air cleaner assembly was orange.

If B2 is close to DD1, I love the color. Got my interior from a Polara in that color, and my Dart is DD1 under the yellow it wears now. Maybe I love or it so much because B5 got overplayed around the time I bought it.
