1967 Plymouth Fury III 318

Project is still coming along. I just dropped off my block to be hot tanked and my crank to be polished this past Friday.

Legendary Auto Interiors is having a 15% off sale and 50% off shipping on orders over $999. I ordered the front and rear seat covers and the installation kits. I hear the quality of the product is great but, even with the discount I paid $120 for shipping! I thought that was a little crazy! They are saying the turn around time will be about 7 weeks. Hopefully I have this thing back together by then!

Just picked up the block and crank. Dropped it off back at the builders to put it back together. Shouldn't be long and it'll be ready to go back in!

Now i have to get that front suspension swapped out!

Today was suspension day. I was able to get the shocks, lower ball joints, and the inner and outer tie rods off. I have a 1 59/64 and a 2 9/64 ball joint socket but neither one did the trick. I guess I need 2 1/8. Once that comes in I'll take the upper and lower control arms off and the torsion bars. Thanks @swisherred for the help along the way.

Also, does anyone know if this horn is factory. The smaller horn is on the other side of the big horn. Blocked by the big horn in the photo. The button for the horn is directly under the steering wheel.

Likely not a factory horn for that year. Looks to be an mid 50's piece similar to an international truck. Factory horn is the smaller one behind it, those were sometimes singles and sometime mounted in pairs.

Dave

Sell the horn as a "one off special! never fitted to any other MOPAR" 1 of 1!"....$4000 should cover it on evil-bay LOL
If its been on there 25+ years keep it on, its part of the car IMO.

It makes the ayyyuuuugggaaaa sound. You push the button and hold it down and it spins up. Then you let it go. It's a big eye sore

Dump it... it's stupid for a car that year.

Before you go on.. take a little advice when you're working on this car. By the looks of it, it needs a little cosmetic TLC. Take the time to do it. Replace and repaint anything using the "while I'm here" method. It will save you time and a lot of aggravation later on down the road.

POR15 and Rustoleum Semi-gloss black do wonders for these old cars. A little time and elbow grease and your car will be not only really fast with the Magnum... but really nice looking underneath as well.

hard to tell from the picture but it looks like a delco (gm) horn. the manufacturer should be embossed on the horn somewhere along with a letter a-f that tells what note it is.

I am going to remove that horn. Sucker just gets in the way.

I had another successful day wrenchin on the Fury. I removed the upper ball joints. The socket size was 1 59/64". I first bought a Sunex brand and it was too small. After buying a 2 9/64" and a 2 1/8" and them both being too big, I bought another 1 59/64" Powerbuilt brand and it fit. Removed the Upper Control arm. Removed the torsion bars. I used a torsion bar removal tool off ebay. Removed the clips in the rear and cleaned out the grime real good. Came off real easy. Removed the lower control arm. The front nut to the shaft that is found on the crossmember is a 1 1/8". Removed the idler arm and I'm waiting for my new pitman arm to arrive before I take it off.

Now I am ready to wire wheel everything, coat it with Osphos, Rustoleum rust prevention and then black.

Be sure to get the left and right torsion bars back to the correct side, they do not interchange.

Dave

I wire wheeled the control arms, used Ospho, and have painted one coat of Rust-oleum stop rust. New parts I just hit to match.

Fooled around in the engine bay some more today. Took off the master cylinder and the backing plate. I have attached a picture below but does anyone know where I could get a new bushing for the push rod and the piece of rubber on the end?
Removed the eye sore of a horn. Glad that is gone.
Uncovered a hole in the wheel well form underneath the battery tray.
Removed the brake lines, waiting for my new ones to come in.
Has anyone replaced the bulbs in the fender blinkers? How do I go about removing the amber and the bulb?
Attached photos of the fender tag and certicard for fun.

Made some progress yesterday. I have put most of the front end back together. I received the correct brake lines finally from Right Stuff Detailing and put those in. Painted my new master cylinder with Eastwood Master Cylinder paint. I purchased a new boot for the plunger rod from @QQE. Everything is coming along. Taught my sister how to pack some wheel bearings too. Haha

Great progress. I am enjoying following this story. I am a couple steps behind you but fun to watch. I too have been restoring front end parts and a replacement stub frame. You have a shed with hanging parts to dry....I have a snowblower and lilac bush to hang parts. LOL. Will receive last pieces of replacement parts soon enough. Will start to assemble the parts on the frame soon enough. In the meantime - I will keep watching.

Nice use of the snowblower. I hung my parts in the shed to store over night and dry and stay clean. I painted them by hanging them from a ladder that I rested on top of the handles of two lawn mowers. Haha.

Good luck on your project. Look forward to seeing it.

Thanks for all the details behind your work. I just aquired a 1967 Fury 3 so I love your pics

I'm waiting for a reply to your question on how to replace the fender turn signals. I took the Allen screw out but nothing is freely moving. I soaked it in wd40 but I do t want to pry for fear of breaking it

Hi Josh,

I just found your thread so I gotta start from the beginning. How is the radio I sold to you coming along?

I answered my question about the signals for the 67 Fury. Take Allen screw out then push bulb forward. Then unscrew lens. It was not obvious to unscrew it and I was about to try to pull it out
