power steering pulley

good day all. curious as to how to remove the pulley on my power steering pump. seems to be the older trw as it has a slotted shaft end. it came on my 68 newport 383. cant find any info on it. thanks, carl

Easiest way is to buy or rent (Autozone) a power steering pulley puller-say that three times fast. Sounds obvious I know, but that's the truth. Looks kinda like this:

There's also videos on BoobTube of how to do the procedure. Not too difficult.

thanks for the reply. what about the large slotted piece on the front? does it unscrew? or is the whole assembly pressed on? thanks ,carl

Download the FSM from www.mymopar.com, the manuals are in the Tools/Reference section from the home page. You will find the pulley removal instructions in Section 19. As noted it does take a puller.

thanks, did that, i downloaded the 66 & 70. my cars a 68. doesnt say much just to use a puller to remove the pulley. nothing about the slotted front of the shaft whether its threaded or not. have the puller just not sure if anything else is holding it. thanks ,carl
 
It’s not threaded, just pull the thing off. The slot is an identifier for what size the pump is. Could have flat end, slot or hex.
