For some reason the longer I look at it, I kinda like it. Nothing I would drive but gotta give the owner credit for creativeness.

Actually,
I'm thinking it Might be Ray Charles's Old Chauffeur Driven Limo. LOL
(Profuse Apologies to Anyone who may be offended by My Comment)
Mr. Charles was / is One of My Heroes.

Ya know....it's not very much more gaudy than a Hurst car....

Gorgeous 300 and great sense of humor! Thanks for sharing both.

The yarnmobile is fascinating in many ways, but I suspect that getting caught in the rain would be "a bit interesting" in many ways too. At least the Imp could handle the extra thousand pound of water it would soak up!

You'd quickly learn whether terms like "colorfast", "waterproof adhesive" and "surface prep" played any part in the mental conversation that led to this inspired creation.

My wife is an art teacher she has a yarn project the kids must cover a 12"×12" piece completely. It is a 3 week project, the kids can't believe after 1 week how long it takes to complete the project.

I sent her the pictures of this Imperial to shut them up when they start complaining how long it takes. :)

My grandma used to make covers for tissue boxes like that but not at all psychedelic.

Give me an hour with a good pressure washer and I'll bet I can fix that Imperial... Of course, who knows what's underneath?

 Not really sure what to make of that. I like the design but it’s covering up a really nice looking car that would hold its beauty on its own merit.

I saw "The Yarn Car" in person in Houston about 12 years ago, it was an entry (and I think winner) in the annual "art car" show held there. It DOES have a late 60's look to it that's about the right era for the car. The guy who did it owned the Imperial, seemed to be what we would consider a "good owner" and was neat to talk to. While it IS covered in a WHOLE LOT of yarn, the Imp IS otherwise loved/respected as stock. The large/flat surfaces of the "slab-side" cars make great "palettes" for artwork like this, not that I'd condone this kind of thing on a widespread basis.

It made me think of the "I Dream of Jeannie" episode where the major's Pontiac convertible was given a psychedelic paint job by some hippies that befriended Jeannie.
