It may be an all Ford cast, but I do love just about everything about this movie. I was flipping channels and caught a few of the more memorable early scenes. Who can ID the engine? Is it even a Ford? Then Burt's (or the stunt driver's) hand shifting the 4 speed. And lastly an action shot.

It seemed like this movie ran every few months on the local UHF station. Everyone I see it on TV, it makes me feel like I'm 14 again.

With an extra lifetime, I'd love to build a 71 Fury version of this Ford. Why won't someone do THAT instead of wrecking another poor C with "bags" ?

429 Ford engine, although the 460 Lincoln version would be visually identical. Upright front mount distributor and canted valve covers are the visual clues.

The valve covers were kind of throwing me. Thanks for the picture. In the shifting scene, you can see a wood steering wheel, like you might find on a Mustang. A guess might be that they took tight shots of both engine and shifter, so as not to reveal any specifics that differed from an LTD. It might have just been some guy at the studio's car, lol.

There is also a scene where one of the characters says "pusher rod" instead of pushrod. I intend to start doing that as well... including internal work-related emails referring to Gen III Hemis. Let's see who notices...not technically incorrect.

The late Tom Hoover referred to spark plugs as "sparking plugs".

Watch what you say about 'White Lighting' that cursed car is due to show up on Craigslist righ'bout now that you mentioned that phrase.
Bad JuJu there boy...

:lol::elmer::icon_fU::mob::poke:

stop stop stop :stop::stop::stop: I'm getting flashback's form the 70's PTSD what'eva... "I'm Officer J.B. Parker of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, I got you at 65mph on radar boy, if'a you wreaked at that speed you'd be lucky to be alive!"

How old is the TV?

Old enough that it watched Little House on the Prairie the first time... and old shows are all it shows... on purpose. This is actually our main TV.

1974 Zenith Chromacolor2, "the Piedmont" , Space Command Remote with 320w AM/FM stereo and record player. Oak hardwood solids in Pecan finish.

...since you asked.
