Seen at the scrap metal yard this week. It is really rusty anyway, but could have given up some parts.

True that. It's surprising how quickly a handful of usable parts can add up to a few hundred dollars. (and the rusted body is still available for scrap.)

WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE

OK this would take at least a million words to answer and cars being scrapped would be a very small part of it.
I just dont get it.

Well its not worth the 8k I tried to sell it for so ill take 200 bucks and call it a day?

I could never look at a vintage piece of American culture/history without checking its desirability/value before dismissing it. Jukebox, cool antiques, cars, Etc.

Yeah, it's kinda sad to see this (particularly if you need a battery cable that QQE can't seem to make), but I certainly get it. The world has been scrapping C Bods since about...oh.....1967. And Vettes and Mustangs and Super Bees and Camaros and.......

Look at all the "useable parts" on the other cars in the picture. Seems like the salvage yard didn't bother to remove those parts, either. Do we really expect someone trying to make a living in the "junk world" to spend all that time removing assorted small parts from some rusty old car and finding a market for them?

the optional right fender chrome grille surround, a weight distribution receiver, and an old school chrome step bumper. All easy sales and good for a couple hundred bucks. Is that a Dodge dog dish on that square body?

Scrap steel and commodity prices are high right now and China has started up their steel refineries again while we slow down US refineries with regulation.
We sell 90+% of our scrap materials to China,so they can become the world leaders in steel production. China has already bought most of our scrap metal recycling industry. Next we will sell them our farm and food supply chain. I drop at the scrap yard almost everyday. It pains me to see it all go China. The US just dosent manafactor anything anymore!
When the price is high is when the wrecking yards clear out there heavy cars and trucks first.
Most of the cars you see in my posts are wrecking yard rescues.
It's becoming increasingly difficult for me to hold on to all these rescue cars!!!!
