    Horn contact

Hi,its a 1970 Polara, this is the original item, removed due to a short on the indicator side. Item is the spring loaded wheeled plunger, on the replacement (Standard TR7)it's a spring loaded brass plunger that scrapes on the ring, just wondering if anyone has done anything?

    dead carb.

well in a moment of boredem I boldly went where many cack handed buffoons had been before me. Got the carb stripped, cleaned and sitting on the bench, the main damage was the missing screw head of the choke butterfly and a slightly bent butterfly, the remaining screw came out with some fiddling...

    dead carb.

Well the carb on my 1970 318 Polara has finally given up. It's only 50 years old for goodness sake, don't make them like they used to.....etc,etc...(butterfly screw head vanished, leaking from shaft etc ) So I need a replacement for a Carter 2249/2027 (4895S) plenty around but which to avoid? Is...

that's the really annoying thing about it, starts on the button, hot or cold, drives beautifully, kick down and goes, just don't know when its not going to. I also locked the heat riser open thinking it was heat related vapor lock, but temps ambient temps are down again, going to try it with a...

    still flooding

well the heat riser was stuck closed, with broken springs. now locked open, not like its going to be used in cold conditions. Also found the float has failed so not surprising it flooded. still flooding

Ah yes! forgot about this. Its not seized but not free, may be the problem, is it possible to tell its position in situ? I was tempted to remove it when I found it seized but it freed off, only to start sticking again.

    still flooding

Chatting with a local guy with an MG, his does this but clears after the car has been used for a few days, he thinks the float sticks due to residue..
