Does a tightly shaking vacuum gauge REALLY mean an ignition problem? Chasing my tail.

Generally, no adjustments on the BBD metering rods. A carb mixture issue will result in a slowly-wandering vac gauge needle. Something which is happening on one cyl will result in specific movements when the cyl fires. When you adjusted the valves, did one need more adjustment than the...

Should I have used new unused plug wires that are 10 years old?

As long as they were stored indoors out of the sun etc., they should be fine. I think the insulation would be the first thing to break down and if it looks good, I'd say they are good. I've read that rule of thumb is 12K ohms per foot maximum, so that looks good to me.

    Shaking!

Hi guys! Been on these threads for quite a while but haven't posted anything yet until now. I know there's been a lot of posts on the topic of a shaking c body but here are some things specific to my car. 1969 Polara. Back in December, there was a godawful grinding noise coming from the...

Should I have used new unused plug wires that are 10 years old?

Considering how lengths can vary on an engine, continuity is a better issue to look for. Look at the different lengths in an inline 6, or a B/RB V-8, for example. After an hour or so gapping the plugs on our '66 Newport 383, I took it to the dealership and asked to get it hooked up to their...

On tape and in a long-obsolate computer language that takes the orig computer to read. On a computer that FEW people know how to operate any more. Nice recipe for "unobtainium". CBODY67

Does a tightly shaking vacuum gauge REALLY mean an ignition problem? Chasing my tail.

I've had the distributor apart and everything looks great, just checked the wires and plugs, compression is 100psi across the board, carb is rebuilt, looked closely at the distributor cap and it looks new, but still has an erratic miss at cruise or still at 15-2k rpm. Only other clue is the...

    Blower motor trouble shooting

With the weather finally warming up in NW, PA I’m starting to work on my 72 imperial project again. And the next big hurdle in my way is HVAC, I want to keep the rv2/auto-temp ii system if possible. But long story short I figured the best place to start is getting the blower motor working. I...

Should I have used new unused plug wires that are 10 years old?

I checked all of them and most are 2 feet long and measure 8.5-9.5k ohms on the 20k scale ohm meter. Longer ones at 2'7" are around 10.15-10.70k ohms. Does this sound correct? Thanks!!

Finally... Taking my 66 on Route 66!

I want to do it again sometime. Learned a lot about how to make it successful. We had to cut out some big chunks and didn't get to stop at the museums in Pontiac.

Reminds me of the one Twilight Zone episode. The last man on earth one. All he wanted to do was read books without being interrupted. When he ends up the last man on earth and surrounded by books , he breaks his glasses.

Do they deteriorate over time even not used? These are on my 57 Belvedere. What's the official resistance per foot for 7mm Prestosil Class E suppression cable?
