    Brake shoes.

I was rummaging through some of the old threads and I decided to cut to the chase. I’m going to do the brakes on my ‘71 Newport (it’s been around 40 years since I did drums) and I wanted to know if the 2.75” shoes are standard. It’s a base level car, 383 2bbl, no power brakes, low option (a/c...

    R.I.P. Joe Flarhety

J Joe Flarhety passed on April 1. Truly funny and by all accounts a nice guy. One of his funniest bits on SCTV was a take-off he and Dave Thomas did of a Hope and Crosby road movie. He did a great Crosby while Thomas nailed Hope. Count Floyd RIP

    R.I.P. Mrs. Peel

Diana Rigg dead at 82. The only Bond girl to marry Bond, and the coolest Avengers episodes are the ones she’s in. She was classy and HOT at the same time. R.I.P. Mrs. Peel

Trim clips for front of my Newport

I need clips for the trim on the grille surround. Can they still be obtained? If not, does anyone have an alternative solution?

    Should Have Guessed

I was doing a search for replacement drawer pull hardware for our bedroom set. I really wanted to replace all of it, but finding a nice piece with the right center to center measurement and not paying and arm and a leg was proving difficult. I found this site with an exact replacement for...

    Ever Hear of This?

My wife was looking at a webpage with old cars and old car accessories and told me there was an old Chevrolet on it with “the liquid tire chain option”. I looked it up and apparently there was a one year only option on ‘69 Chevrolets, that mounted two aerosol cans in the trunk, one over each...

    R. I. P. Kirk Douglas

Issur Danielovitch Demsky, more famously known as Kirk Douglas, dead at 103. One of the greatest among a golden age of greats. So many different roles, so many great movies. Lonely Are the Brave is on my favorites list. There certainly isn’t anyone in hollywood now that can hold a candle to him...

    2020

Just read an article in Motor Trend about cars getting the axe in 2020. Looks like most of the major manufacturers are killing off models. Some will be replaced, some will just receive a new name or designation, and some will be gone. There’s no mention of Chrysler, but says that Fiat’s sales...

    Rear Main Seal

I was looking at past threads here and probably didn’t go back far enough, so I don’t know if this has come up before. Has anyone changed the rear main seal on a 383 without disassembling the whole engine?

    Reverse threads

Its possible this was discussed before but I remembered this the other day and thought I’d ask. Back in the day, I had a ‘69 Newport that I got from my Dad and it had reverse threads on the drivers side wheel lugs. Later I owned two Chargers, a ‘71 and a ‘72 and they had standard threads, as...
