Thanks. It was 'good one' even with 116k on the clock. The 26" slicks gave max traction and effectively a lower gear ratio, which helped. I guess recurving the distributor and a metering rod change do not make it 100% stock, forgot about that. Still, pretty good for a 4400lb'er:icon_fU:

That would make sense, it's as though the printer for the build sheet began printing 1 again.. problem solved for the vinyl roof saga. lol

For Sale 1970 Plymouth Fury III Police Pursuit

I was looking at build sheets of both Pete's car and the car for sale. They are identical except for the number 1 I circled in the section that I think would identify a vinyl roof. None of the other 70 Fury WSP build sheets I have seen have a 1 in this box, nor do the 71 Polaras. I am not...

For Sale 1970 Plymouth Fury III Police Pursuit

What is important here is that a 1969 Polara 4 door sedan 440HP with a 3.23 gear did achieve 149.6mph.. amazing. I believe there was a mag that tested the Superbird in '70 and mph was roughly the same with identical drivetrain. It is my experience that a 'ten minute tune' can do wonders...

And I believe the 6-pack cars were turning 6k rpm. 150mph has to be close to that.. 5800? Thank God they ran good rods lol.

For Sale 1970 Plymouth Fury III Police Pursuit

I always assumed the famous Chelsea, MI 1969 road test used the std 3.23 to achieve 149.6mph. The highest top-end by a factory built four door at the time. The 440HP would be buzzing. I barely pegged the 140 speedo in my '71 with the 3.23 and I don't believe it was quite done, but close. I don't...

For Sale 1970 Plymouth Fury III Police Pursuit

Pete is correct. The car is fairly priced, but the market is a little slow on these types. In the hay day, a '69 Polara would and still does command the the big $$$. However, it has to be a CHP .. with it's manual steering:( The value, like most collector cars other than holy grail cars, has...

I like to say the NW cars rust from the top down compared to the bottom up for the east, no salt here. The undercarriages usually are pretty clean unless they have been sitting in the grass, rains like crazy in the winter.

I would gladly live in the Polara now after buying the house lol. Yes, the WSP's were Fury lll and Polara Customs.. deluxe interiors, power seat, rear defrost, power trunks etc. in everyone I have seen.. even full wheel covers. I have two photos of the Polara, lost all after computer crash...

For Sale 1970 Plymouth Fury III Police Pursuit

Yep, it was the nicest one by far that I had seen out of a handful of them. The quarters were like new inside and out, white floor paint still looked new when I replaced the dirty carpeting. Tucked away in a garage for 15 years helped. I am an idiot for selling, had to buy house.
