Upgraded to a 40 amp subwoofer....

All done. Mopar generator to GM alternator. Needed the widely available adjustable bracket. Had to replace the crap bolts with grade 8’s so I could tighten it enough to hold. Instructions were as simple as I got here and on YouTube. Just have to connect the #2 slot on the alt to the main battery...

Upgraded to a 40 amp subwoofer....

Well....hooked up the little red to the power side of the regulator. No change. So I dug into it and went back over what else I changed. Got thinking about those pretty big leads I took off the ammeter in the dash. It looks stock, maybe was an accessory, but nothing in the diagram. Threw a...

Upgraded to a 40 amp subwoofer....

I installed the one wire gm alternator, ran the cable direct to the battery and taped off the regulator connections but nothing. Car is dead as in nothing from the ignition. I’m thinking I need to connect some of the regulator leads to each other to make this work. Any ideas?

20 amp? 30 amp? What about the regulator? Just disconnect and wrap up the ends?

Upgraded to a 40 amp subwoofer....

Not worried about originality. Custom interior at this point. Easy is good. One wire GM sounds like: one wire to battery (big one), one wire to ignition, remove the regulator and disconnect the ammeter and gen light? Already have a voltmeter. Checked the alternator I have. From a 63 327 and I...

Upgraded to a 40 amp subwoofer....

Any old alternator work? I have a 100 amp Chevy lying around. As long as it fits i guess it will work?

Upgraded to a 40 amp subwoofer....

now I have to upgrade the 60 amp gennie or I won’t be able to run the car at night! I hoping this is a simple affair and someone here has done it. It is a ‘60 Fury with stock everything 318 poly. Any thoughts?

Power Window motor clutch assembly slipping inside the drivegear

For the record, I pulled out the whole regulator, guide wheel slipped off the window channel and the window floated free in there. Not hard to do. Regulator arm had lots of play so easy to twist out. Was a little tougher going back in. Had to plug in in to manipulate the arm. Did the...

Power Window motor clutch assembly slipping inside the drivegear

I find myself with basically the exact same problem. The manual calls to remove the glass from the lift channel first but I don’t see that step here. Can I leave the channel on the glass and just slide the regulator wheel off the end? That would be huge since the bolts holding the glass to the...

Finding parts for converted Lean Burn

A fine idea for a kit, but my strategy has been to just replace everything and let it ride for 5 yrs. I don’t drive many of my cars very much so i trust that starting from new covers me for a while.

Finding parts for converted Lean Burn

All of my old lean burn wiring and computers are there in the engine bay. I have been fearing trying to get back to electronic so sticking with points is just fine with me. On the carb front, it is labelled as a ‘remanufactured thermoquad’ I think. Has the vac advance all set up. I’m going to...

Finding parts for converted Lean Burn

All great feedback. It is a 440, so will earlier 440 points work? The reason to replace is just to know that that won’t be a point of failure. If everything is new ( and I’ll bet what’s there is old) I think I’ll get many years of reliability. They might be fine, but the cap is pretty worn...

Finding parts for converted Lean Burn

My 77 T&C was clearly converted. All the way back to points! Even has a simple 2 pole ballast resistor vs. 4 pole. I can find plugs and wires. Those are universal. I can assume - for the $8 - that the distributor cap listed will fit because the original dizzy was presumably refitted not...

    No dash lights 60 Plymouth...

Would that cause the gauges to fail too? The gauges and idiot lights work, Just not the dash lights. I’dup and replace the switch but it’s $274!

Nope. But would have explained the shaft spinning.

    No dash lights 60 Plymouth...

I’m not sure i have driven the car in the dark till this spring! My guess is bad switch. But looking for wisdom on removing it before spending two hours under that dash breaking something!

    No dash lights 60 Plymouth...

I got the wiring diagram. Apparently no fuse. All head and tail lights work. No dash lights. Switch rotates 360 and does not engage interior lights but they work on the door switch’s. Something is off with the headligh switch or the orange wire leaving there. I have to remove the switch...

    Simple starter install question

Certainly explains everything I am observing. I will put it in and see what happens when it starts. Won’t likely get to starting it till Feb or Mar. Exhaust is taking 10 weeks.

    Simple starter install question

It ran. Gave it a run for a few seconds a few times but it did not retract at rest. As it sped up, it appeared to retract some, may be enough to get it out of the flywheel, but it stopped in the deployed position every time.
