    Headlights/parking lights

Hey all, back on road again. I was checking my lights, turn signals etc, I noticed that the front parking/turn signal lights turn off with headlights on. They only stay on with switch in parking light mode. Blinkers work in either position, parking lights only stay on when switched. Is this...

    1966 newport 383 over charging?

And oh yeah, the ammeter did meltdown already last year, took the gas gauge and power supply out. Had to re-wire and add aftermarket gauges.

1966 chrysler newport positive battery cable length-gauge?

That's what I figured, there's a pathway for the cable to run along fenderwell, then drop down to starter. Got all my parts lined up, now I just need a nice day. Rain for 5 days here in jersey

1966 chrysler newport positive battery cable length-gauge?

Thanks for info, I have some cables left from another project, but the gauges were all different, should have 1 of those, as far as the length, the factory routing takes the long way to the starter and relay, if I can shorten it, I'll give it a shot

    1966 newport 383 over charging?

Just out of curiosity I did a load test on battery, it does drop down to 11 volts, forgot its been in 5 years already, with not alot of driving time. I see everybody recommend the 27 group battery, so I'll grab 1 of those also. Thanks again

    1966 newport 383 over charging?

Thanks, it slowly cranks at 12.1, once I get it to 12.3 it starts fast, then jumps to 15.5, battery is probably on way out too, that's next in line, just updating older parts and pieces as I go along. The starter was a nightmare , all anybody had was the shorty style, which put the wires way to...

    1966 newport 383 over charging?

Thanks, that helps alot, I'll take a look underr the hood and see what I have. I know a member on this site sells replacements on ebay. I still have the old style regulator, according to my Chilton manual has adjustments that need to be made that look complicated.

    1966 newport 383 over charging?

Wondering what charge rate should be, not sure of alternator rating. I'm getting 12.3 at the battery before starting, then 15.5 at high idle, turn on headlights etc, drops to between 14.1 & 15 .2 , even at low Idle, stays at 15 .3 when car is running fast or slow. Still has original voltage...

    I think I broke something . . . but it doesn't make sense (66 Newport)

I'll add my 2 cents, when my ammeter wires burned up( that's another story) I went under the dash to pull the 2 burned black and red wires, there is a 3 prong connector also attached by the ammeter. These wires supply power to fuel gauge and interior lighting. You may have disturbed that connector

    Problem with blinkers

They did work after I corrected the meltdown, maybe I missed something under there, guess I'll have to squeeze under again, I do have a full size diagram, so I'll test and trace. That's what I was thinking on the hubcaps, older Pontiac style. They look good though. Thanks

    Problem with blinkers

Thanks Dave, I did clean and check all the sockets and connections, how would the rear turn signal work if switch is no good? I pulled and cleaned all firewall connections when I had Amp meltdown. I will try the test lamp , if I'm reading right it should be intermittent flash correct? Thanks

    Problem with blinkers

Hello again fellows, few months ago you all helped with my Amp gauge meltdown on my 66 newport, ended up wiring in all aftermarket gauges, including fuel gauge too. Now my right fender and front turn signal won't blink, every other blinker works, including right rear, changed bulbs, cleaned...
