    No power to the starter

Thanks. Was most likely a loose wire. I got under the hood again and looked for the fusable link and found it. I firmed you every connection and then went in and tried it again. Fired right up. But certainly not dirty terminals. I mean they weren’t dirty, but also the symptoms didn’t fit. It...

    No power to the starter

Just tried to start my 67 imperial after lunch and it cranked and cranked (at good speed, so battery is good) but wouldn’t catch. In about the third try, there was just no power to the starter any more. No click, no turn, no nothing. There’s still power to the car. The dash lights up, windows...

    Imperial Fender-Top Indicators (1967 Imperial)

I don't know why you said Murray Park, and I called Turners getting no joy. But I just called Murray Park, and he said without missing a beat that he had a pair and would send them right out. (not that Turners is bad, they've helped me before. just Murray Park worked better this time)

    Imperial Fender-Top Indicators (1967 Imperial)

Looks like the paint shop lost the signal repeaters on my 1967 Imperial. The metal hood-bezel thingies are still there, but the lenses, lights, and wires are missing. Are these shared with other 1967 Chrysler products? Whether or no, any good suggestions on where to find them?

    Two Stupid Questions

I don't know the page, but there is a lot of stuff on the Imperial car club website archives about fuel senders. I specifically remember reading about fixes for the guagues not reading properly, and the recommendation not to adjust the senders or buy new ones, but to do a sequence of things to...

    Starter/Battery Positive Wire (and Related)

Yes, I have one. Unfortunately, it doesn't spell out details like that. I looked. But I admit, it was mostly impatience. I was frustrated because new parts weren't just like old parts, and it started to rain, which it hasn't done since I've lived in Southern California in August (which is...

    Starter/Battery Positive Wire (and Related)

Thank you. Once I got under the car and yanked the starter (they didn't leave too much extra room, did they?) I could see that it's the starter and solenoid wires wrapped together. I'll pull them out and re-wrap. Or I will once the rain stops. It's not supposed to rain in the summer in San Diego!

    Starter/Battery Positive Wire (and Related)

One of the things I'm trying to get done this weekend is replace the wires to my starter. I bought a new one, and looking under my hood, I see that my wire is about the same size as the one that is in there (original?), but the cable is wrapped up in fabric with a couple other wires. What do...

    Differences Between Alternators, Take 2

So I'm changing out my alternator, and this is a bit embarrassing that I can't just do something that simple without asking a question. The replacement alternator isn't quite the same as the previous one. The depth of the face to the pulley seems the same, as is the bolt layout for tightening...

    1967 Alternators: Differences?

They come with one or two pulleys. Mine is a two-pulley, and I'd expect that is the common configuration for AC cars.

    1967 Alternators: Differences?

We've had some discussions here about the proper amperage for alternators, but I don't think I've seen anything about how standardized they were. I'm going to be replacing the alternator on my '67 Imperial. If I go to O'Reilley's, will they just have one that fits, or is it like the power...

Need Help! 69 Newport "Brake System Light" always on!

Don't know if it's causing the light, but if you fixed a leak, you should bleed the brakes. If fluid can get out, air can get in

    2nd time in three years

This isn't what you were looking for, but your car sounds awesome. You also have a different problem from mine. I can hear my solenoid click, and I'm thinking it's the starter wire (like you thought at one point! ). Sorry I can't be of any help.

Oh man, that sucks. I'm sorry to read this. I had hoped you had it licked.

Alternators, Starters, Wires, and Hard Starting

Just checked FSM. AC cars are supposed to have 44 +/- 3 amps. (For other reference standard is 34.5 and "Special Equipment" is 51.) So I'll check that I'm getting something with that current or better. Thanks for the heads up.

Alternators, Starters, Wires, and Hard Starting

I saw your thread "Second Time in Three Years" right after I posted mine, but I didn't finish reading it. Did your description above solve the problem?

Alternators, Starters, Wires, and Hard Starting

Coming out of a job interview today, my '67 Imperial wouldn't start. Grr. (Yes, I made sure to wear a suit and tie while driving the Imperial. I figure it's really the only appropriate attire :) ) Solenoid clicked, but no turn. Got it jumped, and made it to the gas station, where it started a...
