    Slow-ish wipers

1966 Newport with variable speed wipers: I know it's foolish to expect modern day performance from 57 year wiper technology, but is there something I can do to speed up my slow wipers? I'm thinking something along the lines of taking the linkages apart and lubing them, new bushings or...

    Curious Fuel Gauge Behavior

So I just today got my fuel gauge working again in my '66 Newport by changing out the float. While things were apart, I took note of the fuel gauge with the float set to "full" and "empty," noting that the gauge read just over a quarter for "full," and just about an eighth for "half." I ran...

    66 starter relay bolts

I know this is a reach, but does anyone know the size and thread COUNT for the two starter relay bolts on a 66 Chrysler? Trying to replace a missing bolt at the same time that I buy a new starter relay, and do it in one trip instead of two trips. Thanks in advance if you know.

1966 chrysler fuel gauge testing (NOT sending unit)

I'm starting to run out of ideas for bench testing my fuel gauge, and am just about ready to give up and put it all back together again and live without a gas gauge. Here's what I've done so far: * tested original voltage limiter - 12v goes in, fluctuating voltage ~5v comes out * tested new...

    Cigar lighter sparks

66 Newport. When pushing in cigar lighter, there is a spark from lighter to surrounding metal. Fuse does not blow, but element does not heat up. Thinking it’s loose with bad ground. Can’t see anything in FSM on disassembly or repair. Anyone with experience fixing theirs?

    I think I broke something . . . but it doesn't make sense (66 Newport)

So, last weekend while I had the panel that lives under the steering wheel removed so I could install my tachometer, I thought I'd try installing one of my LED bulbs in the instrument cluster. I reached up to unscrew the nearest light socket, pulled it out, put the LED in, screwed the socket...

Bulkhead connector orientation and location of "G" - '66 Newport

I suspect I have a break in the G6 grey wire that goes to the Oil Pressure Sending Unit and I want to check for current at the bulkhead connector. There is no current reaching the sending unit with the ignition set to "run" or "start." There is a evidence of repair in the wire where it leaves...

65-66 Chrysler Map Light circuit strangeness

66 Chrysler Newport 2 door hardtop Just yesterday I repaired the completely ripped apart map light wiring and got the map light working again, but I'm not sure it's behaving as intended. Here's what it does: OPEN EITHER DOOR: map light and c-pillar courtesy lights turn on (map light switch is...

    vintage electronic ignition conversion question

Hi! Back in the late '80s I had a '66 Newport that had some sort of electronic ignition conversion on it. I don't have any pictures or anything, but inside the distributor there was a plastic circular basket (for lack of a better term) where the points would be, that had 8 "windows" in it that...
