I have found a 1965 Dodge 880 Custom that just happens to be a few miles down the road from me here in the UK. It's up for sale at 9500GBP and I am interested but I don't know much about these models. Any thoughts, things to look for? It's been the UK a few years but was originally a California car so there is zero rot in the external sheet metal. It does need some work: front drivers seat is torn, rear seats have tape across the tops which may be hiding some damage, rear bumper has chrome effect tape over the centre section. My only worry is it has been heavily undersealed, so without getting it on a ramp I'm probably not going to be able to find out if that is hiding anything (it's also too low at the moment to crawl under!). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

difficult.
price in the US would be competitivly low as it has a lot of doors.
But then there is shipping (inside US, container shipping, deloading, transportation inside UK), fixing it up for inspection (MOT).

If it is a genuine California car I wouldn't be worried of the underside. unless it was used in England as a winter driver for many years.

Wrong wheels on it.

Worn seats and probabaly many other worn parts to make it nice (if you want to).

9.500 GBP=11.115 EUR=13.115 USD

Depends on what condition and butchery may have taken place to slam it down.
As above more doors are under appreciated and will not command a high dollar unless it is pristine and even then it won't give the same bang for your buck if you ever consider selling in the future.

My humble estimate is less than $3,000 or less in USD in its current state

If you are truly interested then you definitely need to see the underbelly of this beast & be ready to poke around with the owners consent.
If they don't agree then walk away.
It could be a rust bucket underneath.

The car has been lowered and the air cleaner is an after market unit. The intake manifold is also an after market unit. This would be about a $3.5k car in USD. The European market is is higher, but I still think it is over priced as to it's current condition.

Ok thanks for your input everyone. Looks like I'll be giving this one a miss, it was toward the low end of my budget anyway. I plan to keep whatever car I get for a long time time, as an investment I can enjoy as much as anything. I'll continue my search for a 2dr, might contact some of the sellers on here, see if shipping to U.K. might be an option.

Based on my observation reading this forum, many European buyers prefer spending more money on a better car that needs very little.
Consider parts availability and expense can exceed the purchase price on a project that needs fair amount of work.
There are members here that bought cars between 7k up yo 12k US that are turn key drivers that show very well.
I would pass on the 880. Being slammed concerns me what may be wrong underneath.

Just an observation.
