My hat is off to you sir, well done!

Here is a stupid question, how many pace cars were built? Is this one a actual pace car used during a race?

From my research there was 4 parade cars and 2 track cars. So many different opinions on in. Then their was one for each dealership. 4 parade cars had grab handles on the rear quarters and the 2 track cars didn't. the 2 track cars were supposed to be 426 wedge cars. I was told along time ago that the 2 track cars were tagged as 383 4bbl cars yet had 426 engines installed. This all just stuff I have been told over the last 20 odd years. I don't have any actual written documentation to verify it. The car in the add above is genuine parade car. A lot of ppl have said it was a fake because of the position of the side writing being where it is, but there is actual pics from 1965 with the writing in that position. Love to hear any one elses opinions as to what they have been told. Mine had 2 marks on the rear bar in the same position as to where the flag holders are on the car in the hemmings story. The engine and dash plaque were also long gone by the time I got it. I did manage to obtain another dash plaque recently. The dash plaque was fitted on mine originally a little crooked and had left a slightly angled rust impression on the dash. I will post some pics as I add to the thread. Cheers Terry

Thank you for your kind comments. Progress has been slow for the last couple of years as I have been building a couple of other cars for some friends of mine. The black car is a 1960 Chrysler Saratoga. The red one is a 1959 Desoto. Both were really far gone but well on the way to being back on the road.

I have been doing bronze castings for best part of 25 years. Here is a few things I have done recently. Havn't had the chance to sand and polish prior to chroming yet. Beauty of bronze is once chromed it never pits again.

Here's a picture of the Pace Car my brother had. What he told me was the cars that were used in the race had red interiors, and the cars the dealers got had blue interiors. I don't know where he got that information, so I can't vouch for it's accuracy.
Nice bronze reproductions, what do you charge to do stuff like that?

I don't do the bronze stuff for anyone at present apart from my own stuff. Just too time consuming in the clean up to justify. So time poor at present and not getting any younger :)
