We've had some discussions here about the proper amperage for alternators, but I don't think I've seen anything about how standardized they were.

I'm going to be replacing the alternator on my '67 Imperial. If I go to O'Reilley's, will they just have one that fits, or is it like the power steering pump, where I need to know which style I have?

No the only real question will be single or double groove pully.
There may be a 35, 50, 60 amp difference but all will work.

They come with one or two pulleys. Mine is a two-pulley, and I'd expect that is the common configuration for AC cars.

Unless I'm wrong, MOST of the autoparts houses (AZone, AAP, NAPA, PEEPBOYS) as well as RockAuto, all sell reman alternators.
