Guys,
I've made an observation that if I'm wrong I need you to correct me on. I've been looking for a ride. I've seen a couple of 2 door NYers or Newports and most of them seem to have rust around the rear window. One guy even told me that the rear window needed pulled and repair work done because there was a leak into the trunk.

Am I wrong to draw the conclusion that the 2 door models have a problem with rust around the rear windows? If it is a problem is there a certain place that the rust starts at?

Thanks

It starts at the lower corners first due to the angle of the window.
I've personally had 3 vinyl roof 2drs where I simply lifted out the rear glass without and cutting.
67/68's are also notorious for rust in the quarter panel directly inline with the center of the rear wheel (above the fender skirts)

i have a 2 door fast top fury w/vinyl roof - and plenty of rust in the rear window channel, the dutchman panel or whatever it is below the window, trunk floor is shot, and rear quarters too.

i think no one replied because everyone has the same problem :)

commando posted a good pic of some weld/join at the decklid/trunk area where like 7 metal pieces meet up and the factory used a hot melt glue gun to put together ..

I persued that mystery as deep as I could.
On the blueprint was a complex crimp that in reality could never be made. Guaranteed leak.
Big hush up at Chrysler about it and resulted in hundreds of ignition fai.... Wait. Wrong forum.
