@polara71 alerted me to the fact that DL27L0D221805 is for sale on Copart in New Orleans. This car is known as the "Banana Boat" and has been owned for about a decade by someone from Covington, LA (called "Big Dave" on another forum), who listed it here following a fire at his shop:

Before that, till about ten or so years ago, this 1970 Polara 'vert was owned by John Schneider of the Dukes of Hazzard. This car has been well loved, it is sad that she got burned and totaled.

Update: marked as sold on Coparts.

Update: marked as sold on Coparts.

I would think so since restoring the hood and top are easy. Luckily no burn damage in the engine compartment or interior. My gut tells me this car will appear again, repaired, and for sale at a much higher price.

Coparts does not list what it sold for. Did anyone see that information?

It's still a great looking car!

Glad he is still in the game and hasn't lost his enthusiasm.
I believe every single one of us goes to the "woodshed" at various points in our lives so we learn to take things down a notch for our own sakes and maybe correct some blind spots. I sure know it has happened to me more than once in my life but in each case I realize I am better off for it when I look back on matters.

I would really like to benefit from his knowledge and insightful comments, passion, and appreciation of the cars we all like very much. If he could just agree to stick to the site limits I personally would very much like to see him come back if he would like to. I strongly believe mercy triumphs over justice and he is a very valuable resource to all of us.

One of our other site members who I know personally very well after his visit to my asylum for a couple days a few years ago now and really like has also come back very recently and I appreciate his contributions as well.
