I am not sure what I will do yet, but if I was to put a 383 back in, it would have to be a 70 stamped engine (F383 I believe). Depends on what year it is I guess, let me know more details.

I'll try and see if I can get a look at the engine pad stamping.

Gary: I finally got around to getting a photo of the engine stamping on my 383. Looks like its a '66- cast block. Here is a shot of it:
