And what? People didnt understand the terns? B.S............

I didn't believe people didn't understand how it works either........until I started seeing (many) interviews of people losing their homes and (appeared) not to understand how Adjustable Rate Mortgages worked and other variables (escrow, property taxes, etc.)connected to being a responsible mortgage/home owners. I also believe that some knew they didn't have income to make the mortgage payments in the first place and could drag out eviction procedures for several years once they got the keys. The bottom line being if a deal sound like it's too good to be true........

I think home loans were made way to easy to get. My wife works at a law firm that sometimes gets involved in evictions. Some people barely had to put up anything to get into 4& $500,000 homes where I live. It is unbelievable, but I think the fault lies 50/50....it's your resposibility to know what your getting into, but there were also many mortgage "specialists" misleading and in some cases flat out lieing to people.

Yep, the housing market failure was the starting point of the recession and lowered everybody's home value's.

Lol, Yeah I think superB is correct on this one...........what did this topic start on again?? Oh yes, that 71' Dodge Monaco 2dr coup':icon_tongue: Amazing how far of course we can get without even trying.

Because you want more to sell it than when you bought it makes no difference. You gotta find the guy that will pay more than you did for the car, work on it and shipping. In other words from Jeffs house to your door.

Dear David, You are now totally on the wrong track. Those comments were not written by me.

The triple black 71 Monaco is now priceless as I, the legal owner of it, have NO intention to sell that gem.

During the last weekend I made the maiden trip with her and took some photos in a local city park. A group of Japanese tourists stopped by to chat with me about the car. One eldery man had quite a lot knowledge about classic muscle Mopars and in our discussion he told to have several cars in his garage from the muscle car era. Non of them was a C-body and he made an offer from my car that was a really big pile of notes. I just smiled and said that I did not buy and import this car to be sold to him. I bought it only for pleasuring my dear family and if he wishes to buy it, he may contact the persons who one day will inherit all my property...

Sincerely yours
Jukka

you ought to call that guy in CT and offer him $3500 for that polara 440........before I go get some body shop training and buy it myself!

So........ I cant be disappointed to see American history leave the country?

No different than your best hockey player signing over here.

It's all about the money and I can stand with it.
Our best hockey players would already be playing in the North America and in the NHL season, if there would not be that lock out.

The NHL players and classic cars, do you know what is common with them - in the end they both are merchandise for most of their owners. Money talks and bull$*** walks.

BTW. Ice hockey is a topic that I like very much :reading:

Sincerely yours
Jukka

The thing I find interesting in all this is that if you look at the cars for sale sites there appear to be more Challengers and Chargers from the early '70s for sale than what were made new, yet you almost never see C-bodies. Are they all gone? Or are they just hidden away, gathering dust?

good q..........it seems that a lot of the chryslers were saved, I think Dave is right in saying they were the most garaged, thus are in better shape than the dodges or plymouths. look at all the imperials - a lot of them were saved in you look around, and recently there has been A FLUrry of 69-70 300 ragtops for sale, so obviously a lot of them were tucked away.

i'm still waiting for my BB polara ragtop to get pulled out of a barn/garage, but i guess i shouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.

There has also been countless B and E bodies pulled from junkyards when they should have been left there....same thing with mustangs

You never heard that old saying?
Only 112 Hemis in that model made. Only a thousand remain....

The average $$$ for a single family home in Germany is $325,000 USD...

That's roughly almost in the same scale here in Finland. In the southern Finland the average is even more. In addition we have a very long winter period and lots of frost when we have to heat the houses with very expensive energy. Living in Finland cheap? Not at all...

We have very high taxation, I for instance pay over 40% taxes from my salary.
Value Added Tax is 23% and it's paid to the State from all goods and services. Even from the price of the Monaco+shipping.
Price of gasoline is over $8.6 and it's fed up with taxes.

Is it easy to have a hobby or better to say a lifestyle with old Mopars? - Betcha

Cars are expensive to import, due to the inland and ocean freight costs as well our local taxation. The CT Polara vert would cost to me almost $9k taxed and shipped to my garage.

You can't walk in to the first spare part shop and buy the needed parts for your loved Mopar.
Not all vendors in the USA are willing to send parcels to Europe and the same concerns also with some "friendly" fellow Mopar enthusiasts. No deals with foreigners

Sometimes it truly is not so easy as for you fellows who live in the North America, but I have been with blessed to own classic Mopars for 30 years and today I am more happy than ever before while having that Monaco in my possession. It's like a fullfillment of dreams that were born a very long time ago and there's been hurdels on that road, but now I have a triple black 71 Monaco like I always wanted.
:yaayy:
Peace, love and understanding to all of you

no worries Jukka, soon we will be taxed at the same rate, because that's what the voters and politicans want. they have already been working overime to legislate our classic cars out of existence while ignoring the real problems.

that'll be it for me on this, before it slips deeper into a political discussion.

yes, but what about the 4 door sedan :beerchug:

Fred, you know. There's always a room available when the right car appears, a 4D or a 70 Polara vert. I already have enough those E-bodies, three alltogether

You really have a problem with us shifting gears dont you? Thats what we do here

I completely understand that statement. I have two cars I could have only dreamed about when I was young. Yet, the grass seems to always be greener on the other side of that fence. Sometimes I lose touch with reality
