There is no H53 here so why?

It looks like a M but it is a H
If it was a M it would be a very strange car.....

I would bet it was something as silly as running out of rivets...

For over a year?
It's just one of those odd nuances to fender tags.....

I cannot speak for Chrysler assembly line history at all. I have always found the bean counters screw up the universe. At my place of employ we ran out of a very specific electrical connector years ago, at about the same time we received another high quality connector in bulk and were directed to use them even though they were incorrect for the task. Being high quality, nobody really minded too much, but they didn't work with the proper tool for the job. As reorders were done, the person who did the ordering (a rotating job) always just got more of what was there. Now 5-7 years later I am the guy ordering and have sourced the correct original connector, which by now seems wrong to certain others.
I can easily imagine this kind of crap happening at any company, in fact the bigger the company the more likely this stuff will happen.

There is no H code at all - isn't that unusual in itself since it does appear to have a/c?

it is a misprint on the fender tag.
It is meant to be H53 but they stamped M53 accidently.

I still think the Polara tag has a misprint (M instead of an H).
Something that did happen once in a while.

1970 tags are easy to read. just start singing the alphabet song from the third line from the bottom until the end/1/2.

the codes should be in alphabethical order, unless misstamped.

the code should be and is H53. there ain't a M53 code in 1970.
the car has the H53 option.

step 1 - go through the alphabet
step 2- compere the unsure codes with the cars options

Post 68, the only plants that do not follow the alphabetical pattern are Lynch Road and Jefferson.

Hi, yes it's very solid just two little spots of rust but the car is complete. When I took a look at the car I was wondering that everything was placed in the car (engine, trans, bench, back seat, the upholstery in good condition etc. etc.) In these days is hard to find one in that condition. (Sorry but I'm trying to explain me as better as I can because this is not my first language, thanks!!)

Thanks!! I'm going to try to make it work I'm sure it works. By the time I'm working in a 1968 Barracuda Notchback and when I finish it I'm going to start the Polara.
