NOT MINE 1972 Plymouth Gran Fury 2dr in Nebraska(GY9, 360, 31k miles only, $23.5k ask)

My 300 has what I think are the factory 14" magnums. I also have set of 14" 300 hubcaps that came on 67-68 300's in really good shape but I would have to buy steel wheels to put them on. The first 68 300 I bought had 15" cragers that replaced with 15" magnums. I still have the cragers. Probably never use them.

You cats know where I am at.

NO way this is a HOT ROD, and i dont remotely drive it like one. I just like this wheel. IF i had any Torq Thrust D's laying around, I'da been spinning those.

Like most of you, we like what we like, and are "OK" if people think differently. Although, I had a fella mad as hornet at me for NOT rocking the road wheels. Wasn't a "fight", but he had a strong feeling lets just say.

He calmed down a bit when I showed him pics that I indeed do that for 1/2 the driving season.:poke: We started out as strangers and now I see him at local cars shows all the time.
You've actually sold me. I prefer (of the horror! ) the aftermarket wheels your black Plymouth!

Uh, oh .... this fella is gonna come looking for you now.:poke:

They really make this fury look great don't they?
Agreed. I think so, better than Magnum 500s.

It just seems that so many folks aren't different anymore, and they are all putting the same basic mag on every car under the sun, which I think ruins the uniqueness that is the old car hobby.
My point exactly with magnum 500s, EVERYBODIES got em. I really liked ‘em at first and thought they were the greatest thing, then I started seeing almost everyone with them and now they honestly don’t really wow me anymore. Don’t get me wrong I still like em BUT not as much as I used to. My stepdad is doing the same thing now with his Copper ‘69 Charger, its got after market budnik rims on it with Mickey Thompson tires and he’s swapping them out for magnum 500s and redline tires. Heres whats on the car now which I think are perfect and don’t need to be changed….

Here is whats going to go on the car….

I think it will look more original to. Once theyre on the car you might like it better?

Here again, how cool would it be to see the base, or even deluxe, wheel covers with white walls on a '68-'70 Charger now? Many - most, probably - came that way from the factory, and yet no one restores them that way. It'd be such a neat change from the Magnums or dog dishes (people either go top-line or poverty-spec, never in the middle...).

Im guessing that most of original hub cap sets probably got trashed out or left in the field to rust and rot. There were some very unique styles back in the day for sure but finding them is difficult.

I had 69 300 that still had all 4 factory 300 hub caps still on it. Unfortunately I dont have that car anymore. I do like to see on the car, what came on the car. Thats the reason I took the cragers off my first 68 300,

I’m definitely sure I will… maybe, but its gonna take me awhile to adjust to the change. My opinion on it is, all of my stepdads cars now have magnums or rallyes on them which is fine… but I like stuff thats different. In my opinion the car will look like everybody elses now, and it just won’t stand out as much. Anyway so sorry to derail this post, lets make another post on this wheel subject and get back to the Fury.

Yes it definitely would be a great change, SOME purists do definitely do that with restoring the car to concours shape with everything correct including wheel covers but not too many.

Yeah I can see that side of it to, I have noticed that they have become the wheel of choice for everything.

Anyways back to the Fury, it is SUPER clean. I have a hard time believing it to be a survivor though, part of me says it is but most of me says its not. You would REALLY need a paint gauge if you go look at the car to tell the thickness.

yes, my apologies to all for steering into a side road on this '72 beauty. :)

This car does NOT fit my definition of "survivor". that does NOT mean it is NOT nice, NOR is that intended to cast aspersions at seller .. its means, to me, and pointed out by others, stuff has been done to it beyond regular maintenance. theres also a story about it seller may not know, or wont tell, that isnt clear to me.

but even if it were a "survivor" by my understanding/condition preferences, a "quarter/hunny" wouldn't be where id want to be in it. five digits sure, but first digit "2" or more wouldnt work for me.

That said, I am NOT saying it aint worth it, just saying not worth that to me.

hope it finds a good home in a fair deal. that said, i'd proudly sport it if i owned it. its nicer than many things i own now. maybe in its previous marketing efforts, somebody knows more about its history and could post that story for posterity??

alas, i am not a player on this one. Old age, parlor diesels, and foreseeable market conditions require prudence for me.

Agreed. They take the "malaise" right out of it, don't they?
i came of age, with my undergraduate degree and finally a job and first, new (showroom) car purchase ability , in the malaise era for all the "Big Three".

Quickest, easiest way to take the "sameness" outta 'em.

I have chrome mags on my 69 Monaco but not as crazy about them as I was. I do love road wheels but they are pretty common even though I do have a set I could use. Instead I bought a set of these wheel covers I'm going to use. Just have to buy some tires.

Those are NICE! Are they 14 or 15? If they are 15 then they might disappear one night.

Good point, and I suspect that's why wheels are one of the first things people change, 'cause it's easy. As long as he kept the original parts...

True, and it is what I did back in 1970 on my Cougar after buying it from my father. After this car all others have retained with what they came with.

1972 14" Don't see these too often.

nice, post pics when you do I have a 69 Polara 4dr ht and I can't decide what to put in it. Has poverty caps and white letter tires now, which is just too much black. The PO liked that look, he also has a 72 Satellite 4 Dr with the same wheels
