Most Formal NY'ers had 440's except for 1978. 1978 NY'ers had a 400 for a standard engine. About half of 1978 Ny'ers had a 440. The 10-20% of the rest of the Formal C's had 440's. Your 440 Monaco is rare but not that rare.

I can't find the production numbers I had for Formal's.

I do know that there were 34,019 Royal Monaco's made in 1976.

Somebody here (I think it was Kevin) posted exact production numbers years ago. I'll post them if I find them.

the number of 1976 2 dr. Dodge royal Monaco broughams were 4066. These numbers came from the Chrysler archives. They did not have a breakdown of 440 diplomats.

Collectible Automobile August 2016 is reporting 4076 cars built for the U.S. This number does not include the number of cars built for sale in Canada - 2 door Royal Monaco's. No breakdown on the Diplomat Decor Edition and no engine breakdown list.
