25 Foot Paint Job

I would think if you remove the front spring hanger you could repair the frame by welding some plate inside and box it for reinforcement. Then just bolt the hanger back on. The box side, door and cab will be a little more difficult to deal with. Glad he is ok

I'd probably move on to another vehicle as the probably most economic move. The kind of Frame damage would make me inspect the other side of the spring Mount Frame part for severe rust. Guess the damage would look different on a rail with only minor rust.

There's really no economical fix for the truck. The frame really isn't as rusty as the picture shows, but it's not great either. We thought about trying to plate the frame so he could still drive it, but the hit was directly to the wheel and it looks to me like the frame is bent.

The cab is buckled in the back by the window too, so there's no coming back for the truck.

It's a shame too.... He got the truck from my brother inlaw last year who had the truck for quite a few years. You don't see a lot of older trucks around here that are in decent condition. The truck got new rear leaf springs last fall and a new clutch and slave cylinder this past spring. 4wd, straight six, 5 spd.

This really blows! From the sounds of it, this chick is a piece of work. Take her to the mat so she can get what's coming to her. Insurance Fraud is serious business.

That's a combination that would be desirable to some. I might be a nice learning experience to find a nice rust free beater truck and rebuild her. P/U are pretty easy to do this with.

It's been over a year now and the dust still hasn't settled on his accident. It went to arbitration last year and has gotten kicked around since then. As it stands, his insurance company has taken the stand of him being in the right. The insurance company for the car that was hit by his truck (he was spun around and into another car) has also said that my son was in the right. The insurance company of the woman that hit my son isn't giving in as they have nothing to lose.

Arbitration is scheduled to wrap up at the end of this month..... Over a year after the accident.

He had a minor fender bender on an icy road a couple years ago (his fault). The payout on that was so little that it never affected his insurance premiums. This one involves two totaled cars and with that minor accident and this mess, his insurance rates skyrocketed and they are telling him they won't come down until this is settled. He's pretty much given up driving his own car for now. He drives his girlfriend's beat up Prius once in a while and we get to make fun of him for that at least.

The truck is gone, he sold it for parts to get it out of the yard a couple months after this happened.

Wow. The fun never ends. Hang in there man. My wife got hit by a cops son —- he ran a red light. It took over a year to settle but in the end he got his. If your son has a stand up insurance guy he’ll make things right after it’s all over.

Sorry to hear this is still going on in his world... the entire experience of dealing with insurance just sucks.

My wife is in a wheelchair due to negligence of a hospital and 14 years later we are just going to trial in January....14 years of fighting the insurance company. They hope you will die or just go away....:elmer:

That's pitiful, and the damn insurance companies wonder why someone would want to rake them over the coals. Good luck in court!
