2856361 ‘68 383 & 440 single exhaust resonator detail.

HWYCRZR, FYI, I have an NOS in the box zinc coated #2660525 muffler for a single exhaust for your car. LMK if you are interested in it.

I am interested if I can afford it. :)

I will PM you

Thanks

Did 67-68 Imperials have resonators with the optional 360hp 440?

My 68 440 Dual has no resonators...from the rustiness of all the pipes, I think it's original still.

The 360 hp 440 Dual option was only in 68. The only year you could get a factory HP option for the Imperial...at least according to the brochures.

Thanks Will @FURYGT for the muffler. I may as well document it here as well.

Thanks to @68plymouth383 I received an original exhaust hanger. It cleaned up nicely. Soaked it in my solvent tank for a few days which loosened up the old undercoating an actually softened the rubber. Sand blasted it, acid etched it to give it a little bit of a zinc phosphate coating and then tin zinc coated it.
Some day when I find the right rivets. I will replace the rubber.

@Tim's68 Newport
Would you care to share what you disagree with from this post?

Thanks

Let me see what 68plymouth383 has. He says he might have a good used original hanger.
For the NORS hangers you found I am pretty sure I would have to turn the bottom of that hanger around for it to fit right. There is only 4-1/2” of pipe that the hanger can go on. I hate to spend that kind of money and still have to rebuild it. But if I find that is my only choice... I will do what I can. I will need a 2” clamp for sure though.

Not to worry the fast scroll gets me as well. I just asked in case you had some different information. I try to suck up all points of view and knowledge tidbits.

I just picked up two NOS pipes with resonators. My plan is to use just the resonator and turndown on my duals. They are both right side pipes but if I cut them at the resonator- voila! duals with the correct turndowns!
I am doing this to replace the chrome tips I have on the car now. I wanted to go back to turndowns and at $40 a piece i couldn't go wrong.

If your looking for new rear hangers that are near identical to the originals. Hwycrzr started a wanted ad that i had added some pictures. Its about 6 pages into the wanted section. The title is Tailpipe support single exhaust 66-68. Dual hangers are available...

I would post a link if i knew how. There is a 2 page discussion about these hangers in the wanted section. If you are interested i can try to get a better deal on a pair. Thought i may try selling these on ebay.... surely some one would find these helpful/useful.

I sent the pics to the guy who sold me the pipes- he has a warehouse full of old stuff and he is looking for the hangers

Thats funny, my guy has a building full too. Why these guys don't organize the parts and sell on a open market i dont understand....
I think there can be a fear that if people found out what they have it could start to disappear. I always try to protect their identity on the internet for that reason.
