Looking for a windshield gasket preferably oem or aftermarket the fits correctly (I know I asking A lot ) for a 68 300 2 dr hardtop I’ve tried a after market that I have had professionally installed and it’s not fitting correctly even after sealing it I still have a leak issue anyone have any suggestions as to where I might be able to locate the correct fitting one

Thank you

I have a ‘68 Polara 2 dr ht that takes the same style as yours. The gasket is specific to the Fastop style. (Chrysler 2dr and Dodge 2 dr. ). If it says it fits 4 drs and 2 doors it will not fit and those are much cheaper. One key thing I learned is that you almost have to follow the directions in the service manual exactly. The window installer told me he knew how to do it. It leaked. The step he did not do was put the clear sealer inside the rubber channel. The the water would flow into the gasket from the outside and weep around the window to the inside.
He swore he had never had one leak doing it his way. I made him follow the manual when he came to re-work it.

Also you are supposed to put a weather strip foam on prior to the rubber gasket.
I will see if I can find where I got mine from and the materials that I used.

Steel Rubber products was the brand.

3M clear sealer. Inside the channel keeps water from weeping around the glass. He didn’t wipe as clean as I would of.

The weather strip was from FindTape.com
I think it was 3/8 wide. Helps thicken the metal edge and seal the rubber gasket to the edge. (Was also on my original window.)

Instructions that came with the seal. Sorry I couldn’t find the part number.

Every time I downsize my pictures on my phone they turn.
Here they are right side up.

I have a friend who was asking me the same question about his 68 Newport fastback this week, so the question is timely. I just told him Steele was probably the best because they are the most expensive, but just a guess.

Your post helps clinch it.

Thank you!

That 3M sealant works very well. I coated the windshield cowl (drain area in front of the windshield) on my 65 Mustang when I fiddled with it in 2000. I used a piece of welding rod and vacuum line as an extension to get inside the cowl to coat the entire inside of the cowl, as access was limited only via a plug on each side, without ripping out the spot welded cowl cover....

3M no longer has the clear auto sealer available anymore, I'm not seeing it on their website

I’ve gotten a nice used gasket from Murray Park for ‘67 Imp and when my glass guy said that he’d prefer new I got that from Murray as well.
