I need to desperately get some new rubber on my fury. Ive been playing around with the idea of getting some new rims with it too... currently have 15" cop steel rims with the center hubcap. Looks good but I have a hard time finding rubber for it thats not bfg t/a.

I'm thinking...should I go to 17" rims and lower profile tires? Thwre seems to be a lot more to choose from!? Does anyone have 17" tires on their 68 fury and maybe has some pictures? I'm looking to imprive ha dling a bit but need to find a tire thats okay in the rain too.

If you get rid of the BFG TA tires handling will improve right there.

Back in May, 2020, one poster (Mopar Jim) with a '68 Fury III convertible (green) upgraded to "modern rubber" with P235/55ZR-17" BFG g-Force COMP-2 A/S Plus tires on some 17"X7" (0 Offset) VN501 wheels. The car looked good and he said it handled better. Same physical diameter as a P225/70R-15, but in the larger rim size. The recommendations of some of his Mopar club buddies, he noted.

If your talking about the NY, 17" V05 straight out of the box, see summit catalog

So i have digged through multiple threads here and am just more confused than when I started out...

I am looking at some 17x8 rims with 0 offset. I dont know if the 0 offset fits, I also do
mt know if I should do same wheels front and back. Looking at 255/45/17. Currently have 245/60r15 on the read and I believe 235s on the front...

Yeah I definately wont do chrome. The 275s fit on the rear without modification????

Also, on the 28" circumference... I thought it had to be 26"???

Edit: offset and backspacing is different. With 0 offset, the backspacing on an 8" wheel would be 4" i believe...

Modern day equivalent may vary depending weather your vehicle come with 14" or 15" wheels.
Hankook Kinergy ST | 215/75R14 (tirerack.com) 26.6 diameter.
Kumho Solus TA11 | 215/75R15 (tirerack.com) 27.7" diameter.
I'm running 235x70x15
Kumho Solus TA11 | 235/70R15 (tirerack.com) 28.0" diameter. which fill out the wheel well.
Boils down to personal preference I suppose. Hence the 130 pages of tire/wheel survey. Remember to fit the new wheels onto the car and check for clearance issues before mounting tires. Returns will no longer be accepted once tires have been mounted. Hope this helps.

Would it make sense to run 245s all around? Never really had issues with the car not hooking up in the read, but would the same tires on all 4 make for a better ride? Looking at the firestone indy500. Or should I do a staggered setup with 255s in the back and 235s front? That I could do with the BFG sport Comp 2.

Okay I ordered nitto 555 g2 in 245s for the front and 255/45 for the rear along with the bg rod works oldschool rims in 17x8 all around. I think that will be a good combo! I will post pics once I have everything installed :D
